(SR5 updated) Correction: Samyang will launch a fast 35mm Full Frame lens for Canon (and for Sony coming later). 10mm coming too.

UPDATED: DicaHub (translated) clarified the rumors and said while they are sure there will be a fast 35mm lens they still don’t know if it’s an autofocus lens. The lens will be announced tomorrow morning (March 21). They will unveil a Canon mount version with a Nikon and Sony versions likely to follow later during the year. One more thing: I read on other rumor sites that this could be a f/1.2 fast 35mm lens!

There will be also a new Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS (manual focusing) lens and the picture can be seen here:

I still don’t know if the 35mm autofocus lens will come for both A and E-mounts!

P.S.: Currently Samyang sells their lenses under different brands:

(SR5) Samyang announcement on March 21. Likely first AF lenses to come!

Samyang launched that teaser image on their Facebook page. A couple of weeks ago I told you that Samyang is ready to launch their first autofocus lenses. And this is likely what athey will announce now! It will be exciting news for Sony too because Samyang is currently the only third party lenses offering APS-C and Full Frame lenses for the A and E-mount cameras (including FE lenses for the new A7-A7r series).

P.S.: Currently Samyang sells their lenses under different brands:

(SR5) The Sony 2014 rumored camera and lens timeline roundup (A77 successor, FE high end camera and lenses, RX and 4K).

The Sony roadmap that hinted a new A-mount camera release. A camera positioned between the A77 and A99.

I don’t want you to get lost on rumors so here is a roundup of SR5 rumors only. This is what you can expect in 2014:

1) Sony A77 successor. The camera will be announced in early May and is supposed to have a terrific AF speed. It will hit the stores in June.
2) New FE lenses. Three new Sony FE lenses will come in 2014. If we are “lucky” two of them will be announced along the A77 announcement.
3) New Full Frame E-mount camera(s). Definitely to come right before Photokina. And they will not be a direct replacement of the A7-A7r cameras.
4) New 4k photocamera. There is definitely at least one 4K capable camera to come. No 100% reliable specs yet. Coming end of summer.
5) New RX cameras. One new Full Frame and probably new RX100 cameras to come too. No exact announcement date yet (but RX FF likely at Photokina).
6) New manual focusing Zeiss FE lenses. Definitely to be announced at Photokina. Likely “based” on the great [shoplink 25191 ebay]Zeiss ZM (here on eBay) series[/shoplink].

Still to be confirmed as SR5: A-mount Full Frame. I still didn’t manage to get 99% reliable info about it.

Robert:My name is Bob and I work at a photographic store in New York city. Everyday customers come into the store to try out cameras and most of the time they end up taking photos of me. I’ve started to assemble a collection of those photos and post them online. Recently a prototype of the Hasselblad H5D-50C was brought in for the medium format department to preview. A photo from that camera is the newest addition to my collection.

Sony announces ProRes and DNxHD support for F5 & F55. 4K photocamera coming later this year!

The same source that told us the 4K camera would not come in April but much later this year also told us that Sony would give a ProRes update for the F5 & F55. Well, Sony just announced ProRes and DNxHD support for F5 & F55 camera. This means the source is likely also right on the 4K photocamera coming later this year :)

This is the official Press Text from Sony:

Sony has been at the forefront of, and has vast experience in developing advanced compression technologies that led to the visually lossless HDCAM SR, a standard in the production industry since 2001.
Based on our knowledge and experience in this area we then selected the highest Level and Profile of the H.264 standard as the core compression technology for the F5, and F55 cameras. Named XAVC, it offers exceptionally high quality, with the ability to scale from HD, 2K to 4K with very modest data rates, and with frame rates up to 180fps.
XAVC has proven robust, and is well accepted by “mission critical” genres such as Episodic Television, Documentary and feature film. The adoption of XAVC by commonly used platforms has been exceptionally fast, and as a result XAVC is supported by all major workflow applications in the fields of editing, grading, transcoding and media management.
Sony is firmly committed to the continued advancement of the XAVC codec with exciting developments planned for the future. Sony is also committed to our customers and with your feedback the need for diversity and flexibility to support codecs that have been used in our industry for some time.
Our mission is to continue developing the most feature rich cameras on the market. In so doing we are excited to announce support for ProRes and DNxHD codecs as a future hardware upgrade option for both the F5, and F55 cameras.

Stay tuned for more information!

(SR5) New Full Frame E-mount cameras to be launched within the next 5-6 months (likely at Photokina).

I can confirm via multiple trusted sources that Sony will launch new Full Frame E-mount cameras within the next 5-6 months. I guess it means they will be launched right before the Photokina September show. NONE(!) of them will be a replacement of the current A7 and A7r models. All we know for sure about these new models is that they will have an advanced hybrid AF system similar to what we got inside the newly announced Sony A6000.

The surprises: I can already tell you that there will be many more cameras in the months to come (RX and Alpha and E-mount). I am working on those rumors right now….be patient ;)
