(SR5) New A6000 has fastest AF of all E-mount cameras.

The current NEX-6 controls you see here on the back will remain almost unchanged on the soon to be announced A6000.

A couple of sources told me that one of the very big improvements of the new A6000 is the autofocus speed and accuracy. The A6000 has the best AF of all E-mount cameras and the sources told me that you really “feel” the improvement.

And yes, the new A6000 will replace both the NEX-6 and NEX-7 models even if the new A6000 has the NEX-6 layout (no Tri Navi of the NEX-7). There will be also no new FE lenses yet but as I told you a couple of times now I expect Sony to make a major A and E-mount announcement before the NAB show in Las Vegas. This means some time in between mid March and early April.

Reminder: A6000 has 24 MP sensor with phase detection pixels on sensor.

(SR5) More A6000 tidbits (looks like an A7 without EVF on top).

Well, the design changes seem to be a bit more considerable than we first thought they would be. A source told me that while the new A6000 still has almost the same controls of the NEX-6 it looks  a bit more like the A7 from the front (obviously without EVF on top). The A-6000 has the EVF in the corner just like the NEX-6.

And another source also shared the definitive price in Euro:
650 Euro for the body only
800 Euro with the normal kit zoom.

And like I told you yesterday the sensor is an update 24 Megapixels sensor with Phase Af pixels.

(SR5) Four new compact cameras coming along the A6000 announcement (no RX yet)

I am working on the A6000, A79 and RX rumor front. In the meantime I can confirm that next Wednesday at 4-5am London time Sony will not only announce the new A6000 but also four new HX and WX compact cameras with fast processor and fast AF.

So no RX coming now but as I told you yesterday it looks like Sony’s strategy is to release one camera after another and not all at the same time. This will help to gain more visibility. The next announcement is likely scheduled for March already (for the A79).

(SR5) A6000 is the only system camera to be announced at CP+. A79 coming soon!

Image on top shows the NEX-6. New A6000 will look just like it!

I am finally making quantum leaps forward on the SR5 rumors. Not only about the next CP+ announcement but also on the next announcement in March! Today let’s talk about the A6000 and A79:

A6000:
I can now confirm that the A6000 (NEX-6/7 successor) is the only system camera that will be announced next week on February 12 . All those waiting for new A-mount camera or other E-mount cameras will have to wait til early April to get them right before the NAB show in las Vegas.
The A6000 looks almost exactly like the current NEX-6 and features a similar 24 Megapixel sensor. But the new sensor has phase detection pixel for improvement focusing on moving object.

A79:
And I can tell you now that the A79 is coming sooner than expected (likely in March). It will be announced short time after the A6000. More info coming soon…

A hint:
I know the A6000 will replace the NEX-7 but not look like it. Don’t worry, if you like the NEX-7 design more there might be a surprise from Sony at Photokina….so I have been told.

(SR5) Sony APS-C E-mount announcement on February 12!

According to multiple trusted sources Sony will have a press announcement next week on Wednesday February 12 at 5-6am London time! The event is focused on the launch of new mirrorless products. New A-mount cameras and lenses are supposed to be unveiled in a separate announcement in Spring. This includes the A77 successor and 4K A-mount FF.

Next week we can expect Sony to certainly announce the NEX-6/7 successor. The price of the body will be around 800 Euro and the improvements are mainly made on the SPEED front. Which means, faster fps, faster AF, faster EVF (no lag) and Bionz X processor. It’s also likely that Sony will disclose a new lens roadmap and probably show some preproduction lens too.

There are also unconfirmed rumors I got about other new cameras but I don’t know yet if they will be announced next Wednesday:
– New RX camera
– New FF E-mount camera

As usual I ask the help of sources to get more specific and also more reliable rumor about these new cameras and lenses. Japanese magazine Sony roadmap is just speculation/rumors.

There is a Japanese Magazine that published a possible Sony roadmap for 2014. The image can be seen on top and has been posted on Dpreview forum. Just to be clear, this is a pure mix of speculation and already existing rumors. For example they wrote the new A99r will have a 54MP sensor. They toke my 54MP sensor rumor and fitted it inside that camera :)

I can actually tell you already this is NOT going to happen. It’s true Sony has such a sensor. But It’s not going to be used in a real camera this year.
