(SR4) New A77 successor to come in late 2013.

While Sony does’t plan to release any new FF SLT this year they will introduce 2-3 new APS-C SLT cameras. And three of my sources told me that it is Sony’s goal to launch a new A77 successor the second half of the year. I have no info about the exact specs now but while I am working to find them you may express your wishes by commenting this post. Let’s see if at least some of them may come true!n

(SR4) NEX-3N coming soon?

According to one source the next new NEX camera will be the NEX-F3 replacement. And it will be named NEX-3N. There is no info yet about the specs. One more thing: The big CP+ show starts on January 31st. I expect some new Sony stuff to be announced by than!

Sony A99 Review (Photography Blog)

Photography Blog reviewed the [shoplink 14165]Sony A99 (price & specs)[/shoplink]. Beside confirming that the image quality is excellent, the 24.3 full-frame camera gets more positive points. In the conclusion they write:

The Sony A99 combines virtually all of the company's latest cutting-edge camera technologies with an excellent full-frame sensor and a proven body design to create a realistic rival to the likes of the Nikon D800 and Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Traditionalists may not appreciate the electronic viewfinder or more limited range of lenses, but there's lots to like if you can get over that particular preconception (including the excellent EVF itself).The A99 is perhaps the most well-appointed full-frame DSLR on the market. A magnesium-alloy body with weather-sealed controls, two control dials, fast 6fps burst mode, a clever 3-way swiveling LCD screen, useful top LCD panel, innovative dual AF system, focus peaking, flash sync socket, uncompressed HDMI output, built-in GPS and an optional vertical grip. (SR2) All three new Zeiss lenses cover FF?

I got a rumor form a new source that might be interesting to discuss. But please keep in mind that this rumor hasn’t been confirmed yet by any trusted sources so keep your feet on ground. As you know Zeiss will launch three new E-mount AF lenses this year. The 12mm f/2.8, 32mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/1.8 lens. The one new source told me that these lenses will cover the full Full Frame area in preparation of the launch of the new FF NEX by end of this year or early 2014. And the source also told me the main issue for Zeiss is to remove the heavy vignetting on the 12mm wide angle lens.

UPDATE: Back at Photokina Zeiss said these lenses were designed for APS-C. What the source says is that the lenses will be redesigned to cover FF.

Again, this is no SR4 SR5 rated rumors. But if true…this is deifnitely a good news!

(SR3) 85mm f/1.8 is an all Black lens.

I have been told there will be 5-6 new E-mount lenses announced in 2013. One of them is almost certainly the High Quality standard zoom from Zeiss. Another rumor I got (from new sources) is that there will be a 85mm f/1.8 lens and to be more specific this will be an all Black color lens.

I repeat, I still need the confirmation from my trusted sources to be almost sure (SR5) about the lens release.

List of new Sony Cybershot compact cameras (no NEX-SLT announcement yet).

As expected Sony will not announce any NEX or SLT camera yet. This is the list of compact cameras that will be announced for the CES show that starts on Monday:

  • DSC-H200: 20MP, 26x zoom
  • DSC-W710: 16MP, 5x zoom
  • DSC-W730: 16MP, 8x zoom
  • DSC-TF1: rugged, 16MP, 4x zoom
  • WX80: 20MP, 8x zoom, Wi-Fi
  • Sony will announce also a dozen of new camcorders and some new accessories

But as I told you before major NEX and SLt announcements may be made in a few weeks from now for the CP+ show in Japan!
