The Chinese website Xjrumo (Translation here) posted some super interesting rumor. Our Chinese reader Leafye translated the text for us (Thanks). But before to read keep in mind that this rumor has yet to be confirmed (or denied) by trusted sources. I post this here in the hope they will react soon and send me some info.

These are the first complete A99 video specs. It almost sounds too good to be true:

1) AVCHD2.0 format ,below 1080p it have the Bit rate of 50Mpbs,4:2:2Sampling （other model coming next year has 4：2：0）
2) 1080P with the highest 120fps,at 720P, the highest is 240FPS
3) MP4 format still 35Mbps
4) center focus all the lens can use the biggest Aperture. others still F3.5
5) except P model, A,S model can also auto-focus but M model still MF
6) 4 times zoom in during 1080P can be captured
7) multi-recording can take a 2.4Megapixels during recording
8.) HDMI can be Non-destructive Output new shoe can fit the wireless(bluetooth) mic
9) except the high speed model,other model Maximum recording time is 29min 59s
10) Time code support

What do you think of it? HDMI non destructive output….50MPs bitrate, 4:2:2 Sampling….Crossing my finger this is real!!!!

Here are more A99 rumors from a “Chinese” source. It’s not one of my top trusted sources but that source has been right in the past too. Some of the info you read have been already posted on SAR last week. This is the original “Chinese oracle” text:

1. The A99 has special look on the front side, and the back side looks like the [shoplink 8461]A77[/shoplink].
2. The A99 has an improved and huge Translucent Mirror.
3. Auto Focus Module built-in af point everywhere, you will **NOT** see 102 points, cuz many points are hidden
4. there is no built-in flash
5. All a77’s shortcomings have improved, such as response time and focus precision, high-ISO noise reduction which can be improved via firmware
6. there are pair of slots, not CF nor XQD
7. a99’s new grip will like the [shoplink 13240 ebay]pentax’s grip (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. It uses the electronic connector, i think that is for the water prove and you can put 3 battery in it, for a longer video recording time.

One more info: The new firmware of [shoplink 8461]a77[/shoplink] will release out after A99 announcement , will be out this year, is expected in October.

Hope you had a nice weekend, I am back from the mountain trip and checking my mails for new rumors. One of the things I am trying to find out is the announcement date and actually it appears that Sony will have multiple announcements! One source said the NEX cameras and lenses are going to be announced on August 28th while the A99 and A-mount lenses may be announced in mid September.

I ask my sources if they can confirm or deny that circumstance. Thanks!

Another message to sources: Please be patient. I got many rumors in these last weeks but I usually try to doublecheck the info to avoid bigger mistakes. And now back to A99 and NEX rumor work…. :)

Sonystore US now marked the 300mm lens as “No Longer Available”. There are still two left at Amazon (Click here) but the replacement of the lens should be announced within the next few weeks…maybe along two other zooms the 70-200mm and 70-400mm lens.

P.S.: The RX1oo has already 71(!) user reviews on Amazon and only four of them negative (click here to read them all).

This rumor still hasn’t been confirmed by trusted sources but according to two anonymous messages I got the last 48hours the big Sony DDAY announcement is scheduled for August 28th! I hope trusted sources can confirm this within the next hours so that I can upgrade the rumor from SR3 to SR5. I am also not sure if this announcement is just for NEX or for NEX and the A99!

I also have been told that we should expect major leaks the days before the announcement. For now we know the A99 (with new flash and vertical grip and more), NEX-5R, NEX-6 are coming. On the lens front we could see a new 70-200mm, 300mm A mount lens (and maybe a 50mm prime) and on the NEX front I am sure we will have the new 11-18 and 16-50mm pancake(!) zooms and a new 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. I will write an exact roundup of all camera, lens accessories and features next week. Let’s hope Sony models will be as successful as the [shoplink 13014]Sony RX100[/shoplink] (on top of the rankings at Amazon US).

The Canon 5DmarkIII is the one camera to beat for the A99. But the D600 will set a new low price for FF cameras.

A source just told us that indeed Nikon will announce the Nikon D600 FF camera by end of this month. And the price will be around 1.500 Euro for the Body Only and it will use the same 24 Megapixel Sony sensor that will be used for the A99. The A99 is rumored to be priced somewhere between 2.500 and 2.800 Euro. From what I know from the source the A99 has strong advantages compared to the D600 like weather sealed body, better video quality (and Phase detection AF while video recording), much faster frame rate (10/12 fps versus 3fps), more advanced control layout and so on. So it’s more appropriate to compare the A99 with the [shoplink 13204 ebay]Canon 5DmarkIII (price over 3000 Euro/Dollars)[/shoplink]…. But the question is…will the Nikon D600 be a problem for Sony? At what price would you buy the A99 instead of the D600 or Canon 5DmarkIII or Nikon D800? Be honest! :)
