CONFIRMED: The Sony A6700 will outperform the X-T5: It’s faster, better and more affordable!

One of my best sources quickly saw the new Sony High End APS-C E-mount camera that will be announced on July 12. While he didn’t feel like sharing the NAME and the SPECS of the camera he gave me FIVE info I can share today:

Compared with the Fuji X-T5 (sort of benchmark in the APS-C world) the new Sony high end APS-C camera has:

  1. better Dynamic Range (Note: In video I made a mistake and said “better image quality” instead of “dynamic range”.)
  2. better Autofocus
  3. better AI features
  4. better Image stabilization
  5. Costs less than the Fuji X-T5

In short: It outperforms the Fuji for less money! I like that, now let’s hope Sony also made improvements on the overall usability of the camera!

Now it’s official: Two new High-End cameras registered in China! And these are the A6700 and A7cII

Note: In video I made a small mistake: A6700 announcement 4,5 and not 3,5 months after registration :)

In China Sony registered the next new camera code “WW499972” for a camera that still has to be announced. In summary we now have two codes of cameras to be released. Both seem to be more “high end” models as they have dual 2.4GHz/5.1GHz support:

  • WW499972 2.4GHz/5.1GHz (Registered today on June 25)
  • WW542541 2.4GHz/5.1GHz (registered on March 1).

I believe the “WW542541” registered back in March is for the A6700. While the newly registered “WW499972” might be for a new A7cII. You will notice that in the past Sony announced the cameras exactly 3,5 (max 4,5) months after the registration:

  • WW198387 was the ZV-1II  (Registration on February 3, Announced on May 23 ->3,5 months)
  • WW694956 was the ZV-E1 (December 12 announced on March 29 ->3,5 months)

This would mean:

  • WW542541 likely to be the A6700 (Registered on March 1, announcement rumored on July 12 ->4,5 months)
  • WW499972 likely to be the A7cII (Registered on June 25, announcement would be around mid October)

UNCONFIRMED RUMORS: New Sony 16-80mm f/4.0 coming on July 12, will replace the Zeiss lens?

I got those two messages from new sources. Therefore take it with a grain of salt as this has NOT been confirmed by my trusted sources yet:

Source 1:

Next lens is… 16-80 f4. Is for July 12, second option for a6700. Like fuji 18-55 or 16-80 options. You pick.

Source 2:

I wanted to give you another piece of juicy info for all your hard work. Along with the 15-45 I told you about a while back, Sony will also be releasing a lens to update the 16-70. This is due to the fact that the Zeiss lenses are being faded out little by little. The 16-70 is the next to be faded out.

The new lens will be a 16-80 f4 constant zoom. It will also be kitted with the a6700, although more expensive than the 15-45. It will be optically superior to the old Zeiss lens. It’s going to be great! I will let you know when I have more info about the price/size and other details.

I definitely do believe the Zeiss lens is in need of a proper replacement. But I am not sure this is going to happen on July 12. So far trusted sources

RUMOR: Sony A9III will be the “fastest” camera ever made!

On July 12 Sony will announce the new A6700. After that we will get three new Full Frame E-mount cameras within 4-5 months! One of them is the Sony A9III which sources told me will have the fastest autofocus, fastest readout, fastest fps of all mirrorless cameras on market now!

I still got no final specs, but my trusted sources are slowly starting to talk more about this camera :)

Last minute rumors: Sigma 14mm f/1.4 might be a tiny bit less expensive than the Sony 14mm f/1.8 GM lens!

The same source that shared the Sigma 14mm f/1.4 images told me that while he is not 100% sure yet, he “heard” the Sigma might be even a bit cheaper than the current Sony 14mm f/1.8 GM lens. Now that would be good news!

One the other hand another source that is testing the lens said the lens isn’t really super sharp wide open. So Astrophotographers might be a bit disappointed. Let’s hope this tester is wrong and he might didn’t get a 100% good copy!

Announcement today at 13:00 London time!
