In early February Sigma will announce this new 50mm f/1.4 GD DN lens for Sony E and Leica L mount. Here is the first image I got of this lens!

I had one new source that told me days ago that Sony would announce a new 50mm f/1.4 GM. I didn’t even bother to post it on SAR thinking that it was unlikely to be correct. Well, a second trusted source spotted by Digicameinfo confirmed now that this lens will be announced soon!
The code is “SEL50F14GM” and it will be basically a more compact and affordable version of the currently available Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM lens. My new source also told me the lens has “size similar to 35 1.4”
And like I told you yesterday Sigma will also announce a new 50mm f/1.4 FE lens soon. So I guess we are in no shortage of 50mm lens options :)

I had the pleasure to see the Sony 20-70mm G lens. Sadly I cannot show you the image…but at least I know now for sure this is a real thing and not a rumor anymore :)
Announcement should happen today at 3pm. And because I am always mean and very clickbaity (is it a word?) I can already tease you that tomorrow or after tomorrow I will post the next 100% reliable rumor about a new third party autofocus lens ;)
In total three sources now confirmed the lens will be announced tomorrow (January 17) at around 3pm London time. They also gave me some more info about the lens specs!

If the sources are spot on we should get the new Sony 24-70mm f/4.0 this week around Tuesday/Wednesday (depending on your time zone). I am trying to get the exact announcement time…
After that we should get another announcement in February. 16-35mm GM II and maybe a new camera too!
I just got this from a completely new source. So there is a VERY big chance it might be wrong and complete BS. But I am posting it nevertheless because I am curious to learn from you if actually an E-mount to E-mount Speed booster would be even technically possible to make! Here is what that message contained:
APS-C will be pushed BIG in the near term. Better high-end APS-C glass, and higher resolution sensors. FX-30 is recent proof of this. Will Sony release a A6800 or A8000 ?? I don’t know, but the next rumor is ‘quasi’ related to the APS-C rumor.

Sony will release a 500/4 lens, and a speed booster in 2023.
The new FE lens is coming as the global chip shortage is almost gone. (Chip bloat is coming)
It won’t quite be 500mm, but actually 485, but sold as a 500mm. F-stop will be 4.12, and not a 4.0, but this new GM lens will be sold as a 500/4. I have no idea on pricing, but probably between €7k and €9k.Speed Booster will concentrate Full-Frame FE down to APS-C E-size. Speed booster is intended to boost the APS-C camera market. Hopefully the E-Mount speed booster will work for ALL FE lenses, not just GM lenses.
Like I said, E-mount to E-mount Speedbooster really sounds a lot like BS…but if it would be technically possible I actually think this would be a great product to make!
