Just announced: New Godox Lux Elf Retro Flash

Share

You can reorder it now at Bhphoto, Adorama.

Compatible with FUJIFILM, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony cameras, the Lux Elf Camera Flash from Godox is a playfully small light source with basic features. Its retro design will spark joy atop your camera.

  • Vintage-inspired design and a distinct all-white finish
  • Simple dial correlates power levels with the scene you intend to shoot. For example, if you want enough light to cover two people with the flash’s default ISO of 100, the dial lines up 1/4 power.
  • Built-in rechargeable battery offers up to 400 flashes on a full charge and comes with a USB-C to USB-A charging cable.
  • Control features include an Optical Mode that offers S1 and S2 settings. In S1 the flash will fire in response to another manual or TTL flash, while in S2 the Retro Flash will respond similarly, but ignore the initial flash.
  • The unit also features a sync hole for connecting an optional sync cable
  • Storage bagis included

Sigma 500mm FE lens review by SonyAlphaBlog: “provides ultimate image quality in a light and small form factor”

Share

500mm f/5.6 at BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama, FotoErhardt, Calumet, WexUK.

SonyAlphaBlog tested the Sigma 500mm lens and concluded:

The Sigma 500mm F5.6 DG DN Sports (3200 euros) is an excellent lens and a very good news for animal shooters. It provides the ultimate image quality in a light and small form factor, much more usable than a 500mm F4 or 400mm f2.8 or the big telephoto zooms at a very reasonable price of 3200 euros. It can fit in a standard backpack

It AF, optical stabilisation , ergonomics, build quality is excellent. Bokeh , color rendition , distortion, Resistance to flare , level of CA are also excellent
The only weak point is the very long min focusing distance of 3.2m and the limitations imposed by Sony : max 15fps and no TC allowed

Highly recommended

Share

Blackmagic announced three new cameras. Let’s kick off with the most impressive gun: By late 2024 they will launch the 17k 65mm(!) camera (here at BHphoto). This 65mm sensor is just gigantic!!! Here is the coverage from CineD about this sensor (Click here).

Imagine Sony using such a giant sensor on their cameras…hope they do it…we all know bigger is better ;)

The other two cameras are impressive too and are available now at BH:

OWC announced the new generation 4.0 CFexpress Type A cards

Share

OWC just announced the new Generation 4.0 Cfexpress TypeA cards that will be available soon on their official store front here at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama. This is the price:

No Sony camera yet has the hardware to support these Generation 4.0 cards. But there are three good reasons why to buy them anyway:

  1. Those cards are backwards compatible and will work just fine on any Alpha camera on their max speed possible (900MB/s)
  2. When you download the file to your computer it will be running at max speed of 1620MB/s Write via the new 4.0 card readers
  3. I suspect that future cameras like the Sony A1II will support those cards. So if you buy those cards now you are future proof if you switch to a future new Sony camera
