Viltrox shared a new lens roadmap which includes 5 Full Frame lenses (surely for E-mount) and one new APS-C lens (unclear if it’s E-mount too). All those lenses have autofocus:

2021
13mm f/1.4 APS-C

As expected: No Sony A7sIII announcement and lots of Cine professional stuff!

Share

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMsLoEMsNWU

Sony professional just posted the list of gear they announced today (you can see the long video here). As expected no new A7sIII that I told you is more likely to be announced in June! And a good sign for this is that Sony OFFICIALLY registered a new high End camera in Asia (article here).

Big mistake from Sony management to not at least give us an update on the A7sII successor launch. Also strange to have posted such a boring powerpoint alike presentation that a 5 year old can do!

More news:
Sony announced a new firmware update for the FX9 and Venice FF E-mount camcorders (info here).

Today: Sony livestream at 10:00 AM EDT!

Share

So this is the day: At 10:00 AM EDT Sony will have a livestream (will try to embed it on SAR) to announce new Cine gear. Like I told you many times before expect to get some new E-mount Cine lenses and likely camcorder news. I wanna stress once more that while I heard the A7sII successor might be ready in June I have no idea yet if today Sony will give us at least some “Teaser” about the new camera. So don’t watch the livestream with much hope :)

RUMOR: Full Sony A7sII successor specs to be unveiled in late June and camera available in late Summer?

Share

At last one trusted source shared some info about the A7sII successor release timing:

According to his insights the Sony A7sII successor specs will be fully unveiled in late June. The camera is scheduled to be on the market by late Summer (if COVID-19 doesn’t do a new mess). The source doesn’t know if on the April 30 event Sony will tease us some A7sII successor info so please don’t hold your breath yet on the April 30 event.

Just to give you some history about that source: He was the one unveiling the correct Sony 20mm f/1.8 FE lens specs (rumor here) and Sony A9II info (rumor here). So he has a good track but this doesn’t mean we can be 100% sure until other sources confirm the info too. So please keep in mind I need further confirmation to be absolute sure about this!

Camera Rumor recap:

At the time of posting this Sony has registered two camera in Asia:

  1. High End E-mount camera with the code “WW271448” (article here).
  2. A fixed lens compact camera with the code “WW119533” (article here).

Lens Rumor recap:

  1. Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 GM to be announced this Summer (article here).
  2. Sony is working on a new f/1.2 prime (article here).
  3. Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 FE coming as next (article here).

This is the mind map of Sony Alpha 7 Mark III menu system

Share

Dmitri from Tokyomade.photography sent me the link to his full mind map of the Sony A7III menu system. You can see it here: https://imgur.com/PODOrwY. He writes:

The goal of this endeavor was not to produce an impressive-looking mind map, though. Well, not entirely, at any rate. First, it offered a good way to discover and understand the camera’s less-often used functionality and unearth useful features buried under multiple menu layers. I also use the resulting mind map as a reference on my laptop and mobile devices. Quickly navigating through mind maps is much more practical than flipping through pages or scrolling through a PDF file.

You can get the mind map file at Gumroad. The mind map was created with Freeplane.
