Big comparison: Sony A7R III vs 5D Mark IV vs Nikon D850 vs Fuji GFX

Share

Imaging Resource posted this quick comparison between the current flagship cameras from each company:

It’s almost a matter of preference which of the remaining three does the best job with sharpness, and a lot of that has to do with color. The A7R III has a crispness to the blues in the eye that the other two seem to lack, resulting in a sort of grey overtone from both the Nikon and the Fuji. What may be the most impressive is how well the new Sony FE 24-105 f/4 hangs with Nikon’s new 24-70mm and Fuji’s 63mm.

Obviously it’s too early to draw any meaningful conclusion. But my bet is that the A7rIII will trump the D850 at DxOmark.

Via Alphauniverse:

Drew Geraci took the α7R III to New Zealand prior to its launch. In Zealandia, the filmmaker who created the famous opening sequence for House Of Cards shows what the camera can do in the hands of an artist.
For Geraci, high resolution, broad dynamic range and excellent low-light capability are essential for his timelapse work. The α7R III has all three and Geraci took advantage of that to make Zeelandia.

Sony FF sales in Jan&Feb

LensRentals reports that Sony passed Nikon at the largest online camera gear rental business in the US.  Fstoppers made this resume of the key findings:

  • Canon lenses were far and away the most popular, taking up 9 of the top 10 spots, with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM coming in at 5th and the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II being the most popular overall, while the Canon 50mm f/1.2L was the most popular prime and 6th most popular overall. The first Nikon entry on the list was the 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S VR II at 11th.
  • Sony is now a more popular rental brand than Nikon.
  • Sigma continues to gain ground, having become 20 percent more popular than in 2016. Fuji lenses skyrocketed, showing 96 percent more rentals. Sony lenses also increased 22 percent, while Canon and Nikon decreased 8 and 10 percent, respectively.
  • Nonetheless, Canon remains the most popular system at 37 percent, with the Sony E mount coming in second at 13 percent.

Technical note: disqus allowed occasional intrusive and non allowed ADS on mobile devices

Share

Few SAR readers reported me that they got full size ADS on mobile devices while surfing on SonyAlphaRumors. We investigated the issue and found out that the Disqus comment system did unintentionally allow to display full size ADS that blocked some of you from reading SAR.

So it has to be clear that we DO NOT allow that kind of Advertising and we ask you please to report this to sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Meantime Disqus is working on a fix and I will have to keep their comment system in place so that they can check this and fix this.

Sorry for further issues you will experience while Disqus is working on this.
