Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG MACRO E-mount lens has now been discontinued
The Sigma 70mm macro lens has now been marked as “discontinued” at BHphoto. I don’t think Sigma plans to announce a successor of this lens. If you still want this lens you might buy one of the remaining copies in Stock at Amazon.
P.S.: Also Japanese stores officially marked the 70mm macro E-mount lens as discontinued (Source Asobinet).
Confirmed via sources: New Sigma is indeed a tiny bit smaller than the predecessor
A couple of days ago I leaked the image of the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II lens that will be announced on May 16. Some people argued that the new lens looks bigger than the current version. I asked again my sources and they still do confirm the new lens is just a tiny bit smaller than the older lens.
Not that this really is going to keep us up at night…but wanted to let you know that this is the answer I got :)
An interesting info from the Nikon financial report…
Today Nikon published their full 2023 financial report. The interesting tidbits I wanna share is their “Market Scale” estimate. They think in 2023 6,2 million system cameras have been sold. And of them 800.000 were Nikon cameras. In the lens segment there were 9,87 million pieces sold and 1,25 million of them were Nikon glass.
So that’s how big the camera market was in 2023. Their forecast for 2024 is the following:
So they expect a small decrease in global sales numbers but they think they will still be able to sell more Nikon gear. When it comes to the question what gear is selling well they gave a clear official answer:
Dear Sony, a gentle reminder that we need more “vintage” models ;)
P.S.: Sony will publish their financial report on May 14th.

Competition rumor: Fujifilm will also announce a sort of medium format version of the crazy hot Fujifilm X100VI
Fujifilm has hit the jackpot with the launch of the X100VI. And what amazes me is that no other company seems to be fast and smart enough to create a real competitor. Sony could have taken the opportunity to relaunch the RX1 line, but so far there is no sign of a new camera on the way.
That is why I am surprised by the news that Fujifilm is doubling down and launching a medium-format camera with a fixed lens in 2025! I wonder why Sony (and Nikon and Canon) are not being serious in the fixed lens camera business. And you can’t say that they were unprepared because the X100 series is hyped since at least 2 years!
Let me know what you think about this:

P.S.: Those are my thoughts about the Fujifilm medium format fixed lens camera:
