Fstoppers posted a Sony A7R II vs Canon 5DS R vs Nikon D810 Camera Shootout (video above). The conclusion is that switching system for the A7rII is yet not recommended:

The Sony A7RII is a great camera. If you don’t already have a lot of money invested in a camera system and 2.8 lenses aren’t a necessity right now, the A7RII may be a fantastic choice. I just didn’t feel like the Sony was able to outperform the DSLR competitors in an area other than 4k video recording. That leads me to conclude that the A7RII isn’t actually better than the D810 or 5DSR, it’s just a really great smaller option.

Dave:Sony sent me an A7rII to try because I was considering dumping my Nikons and Fuji X T1 for their system. I used it on a big photo shoot up in Duluth, Superior, Bayfield and Northern Wisconsin. I loved the camera, but one deal breaking feature has stopped me from making the switch: the camera won’t shoot when writing to the card. So close to selling all my other gear, but that is a flaw I can’t live with. http://wisconsinbikefed.org/2015/10/09/testing-the-sony-a7rii-on-the-camba-and-coggs-trails/

hasselblad

BHphoto deals page is showing a small surprising fact. The Hasselblad 18-200mm E-mount lens sells for $499 only (Click here). That’s $350 less than the Sony version. And the Hasselblad 16mm E-mount lens costs $100 less than the Sony version. And you can get both Hasselblad lenses with the extra leather bag too.

And you save $20 compared to all other best US prices on that Sony SD 32GB (four pack) at FocusCamera (Click here). They have the same deal running on 64GB cards too (Click here).

Kenta Honjo confirms there will be new A-mount cameras!

Share

Sony manager Kenta Honjo confirmed with very clear words that there will be new A-mount products and specifically new A-mount cameras in future. He also added that Sony also wants to improve the E-mount system so that it can support sport photographers. That means they want to release the right lenses and also improve the EVF so that it has virtually no lag.

Personal note: Thanks Kenta Honjo for mentioning SonyAlphaRumors community as a valuable source for spreading the “Alpha Gospel”. Thanks :)

Canon to use Sony sensors on their future DSLR cameras?

Share

Canonwatch reports:

“I hear that Canon is considering to sell off its sensor fab and acquire from other manufacturers the sensors of its future cameras. Furthermore, I learn that an EOS camera currently in testing is being tested with two different sensors, one made by Canon and the other one made by another sensor manufacturer.”

It’s quite obvious that if the rumor is true that this means Canon is testing Sony sensors. But I don’t think it would make sense for Canon to switch to Sony sensors. They would always get the best sensors a long time after Sony’s own camera implementations.
