Good news: Sony says Zeiss 55mm FE lens will ship on Dec 20. Bad news: Sony Korea teaser was for the 55mm FE lens :)

Sony Japan just announced that the Zeiss 55mm FE lens will ship from December 20 instead of the previously estimated January release period. And the 18-105mm PZ lens will ship from December 13.

Meantime we also learned that the Sony Korea teaser for a “new product release” was indeed for the Zeiss 55mm FE lens :(

Gordon from CameraLabs posted the full A7 review and writes:

The Alpha A7 and A7r are a wake-up call for the photographic industry, especially to Canon and Nikon. Here are two cameras which not only match or outperform top-selling DSLRs in many respects, but which also can use their lenses, in some cases with minimal compromise on handling. If Canon and especially Nikon aren’t careful, they could find themselves becoming lens manufacturers with a niche body business in pro sports photography.

(SR4) Zeiss working on five manual focusing FE lenses (launch Photokina 2014)

A couple of weeks ago Zeiss announced on their Facebook page that they are already working “on manual focus lenses for these new full-frame CSCs. They will have an interface to provide EXIF data to the camera. They are expected to be in stores by the end of 2014. However, we cannot provide any additional infos right now.”

One of our sources told us that they plan to launch five(!) FE prime lenses at Photokina 2014. They will be expensive but also top quality lenses. This is my wishlist: 15mm f/4.0, 21mm f/2.0, 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4. Thanks in advance Zeiss for following my wish list suggestions ;)
