As you know since last year Sony changed their sales stagey in North America. They closed most of their US stores and today they announced they will close ALL(!) fourteen stores they have in Canada. Sony writes:

Over the next 6 to 8 weeks we are closing our Sony Stores in Canada and will redirect all of this business through our national network of Sony retailers, our online store … as well as through our Sony-trained Telesales team,

On February Sony will finally launch the lenses announced back at Photokina (see roadmap on top). And today we also got some tidbits about the next bunch of lenses coming in mid-end 2015. The source said there will be two Zeiss branded FE autofocus lenses:

1) 25mm f/2.0:
Such a lens already exists for Canon and Nikon DSLR. It’s the [shoplink 32563 ebay]Distagon 25mm f/2.0 (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. Anyway, if the rumor is true it’s a bit surprising to see two 28mm and 25mm f/2.0 FE lens in 2015.
2) 85mm f/1.8:
This should be the long time rumored tele prime lens.

The source stressed to say that what he saw were prototype lenses:

“We used them on a Sony A7R. Appeared to be similar build quality and style to the “Touit-Loxia” series. They were both AF and quite snappy with focus and of course very sharp.“

The A6000 may not be on the headline like an A7s but it’s certainly one of the best cameras you can get for much under $1,000. I have to write this post to debunk a rumor running on the web. Sony registered a new camera in Indonesia. The name is hidden behind the code “WW808162“. Unlike the rumors this isn’t a new FE camera code but the code used for the Kw1 smartphone selfie camera. Just search on the official the Kw1 manual for the code and you will see it’s used for the cam.

This is the selfie cam in case you forgot about it :)

Loxia 35mm to finally ship on February 5 in USA. 50mm Loxia on Jan 22.

A long time source spilled out some general info on the Sony camera sales:

1) A77II A-mount camera sales slightly exceeded the projections of the first three sales months.

2) A7-A7r-A7s sales are way higher than Sony’s best projection.

3) The most sold FE camera is the Sony A7s

4) The most sold E-mount camera (FF and APS-C) is the A6000.

I am not surprised to hear that at all. And I hope Sony will take note that we need more APS-C E-mount lenses too to support the many A6000/5100 and future A7000 camera owners.
