Let’s go crazy on rumors: Super wild (and probably BS?) rumors about a new Sony 85mm f/1.0 GM lens!
As you know I have been the first to tell you that Sony want’s to surprise the photographic world with a lens that has never been made before:
24-70mm f/2.0 GM Full Frame AF lens
Two trusted source confirmed this lens will be announced soon. I don’t have an exact date yet but it could be announced as early as in June. In June we will also get a new 85mm f/1.4 GM II..that also has been confirmed!
-> Warning: Now this is the part where the reliable rumors end: What I want to talk about now are two rumors I got from two different Asian new sources. Those are CRAZY and unconfirmed rumors. So do NOT hold me accountable for those!
Both told me that Sony wants to launch a SUPERFAST lens…faster than f/1.2! As you know, the fastest AUTOFOCUS lenses on the market are f/1.2. The only AF lens ever made that is f/1.0 is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM. Having an AF lens at f/1.0 or f/0.95 would be an incredible achievement. Sure, this lens would be big and expensive–but it would also create a web buzz that would last for months, if not years! A bold marketing move to focus attention on the E-mount system. So here is the big question for you:
