(SR5) NEX-5T is a NEX-5R with some minor things more. High quality 16-70mm zoom coming.

Share

Within the next days Sony will announce the NEX-5T. But don’t get too excited about it. This is basically just a NEX-5R with some minor new features. It has NFC, FN-button control like on SLT cameras, new Menu Interface and a couple of more things.

The real major news will be the new 16-70mm High Quality zoom. I should get the final specs soon. Stay tuned!

P.S.: I work damn hard on the NEX-FF rumor. And I made some progress I will be able to share soon too! Personal note: My vacation was no vacation because of that :(

(SR5) New action camera coming too (HDR-AS30V)

Share

Image on top: The current AS-15.

Yesterday I posted news about the mirrorless market not growing anymore. But there is one market that is really “booming”. It is the action camera business. That’s why Sony will soon announce a new action camera named “HDR-AS30V“. It is a smaller and lighter camera than the current Sony AS-15. It’s compatible with Sony’s Smart Watch and has GPS and NFC. More features coming soon.

Note: I know this isn’t an A or E-mount related news. But it’s interesting to see what kind of development on these cameras. Some of their new features may  be implemented in future A-E mount cameras too! There will be a NEX-5t announcement soon and a NEX-5t related rumor will be posted soon :)

Stanley Kubrick Zeiss f/0.7 lens now for rental. But you better get the De Oude Delft for your NEX

Share

I guess you read it on the web. Plenty of websites reported about the unique Zeiss f/0.7 lens which has been used by Nasa and Stanley Kubrick. You can now rent that lens at Pstechnik.de. But there is no way it fits on your NEX camera. That’s why I wanted to remind you that there is an almost as fast lens you can actually really use! It’s the [shoplink 6323 ebay]De Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75 (here on eBay)[/shoplink].

[shoplink 6323 ebay][/shoplink]
The Photographer Aldo Navoni used the [shoplink 6323 ebay]De Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75[/shoplink] (!) on the Sony NEX-5 and you can see the pics on his Flickr page (Click here). It’s doesn’t have the glorious history of the Zeiss lens but if you need as much speed as it gets this is what you have to buy.

You can get the lens on [shoplink 6323 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Nikon cut’s its operating profit forecast. Says Mirrorless doesn’t sell well.

Japanese camera worldwide shipments (Source: personal-view).

As you may have read on New York Times (Click here) and USA Today (Click here) Nikon executives said that sales were particularly disappointing in the United States and Europe for mirrorless cameras (Source: Reuters). In short what they say is the mirrorless market isn’t growing anymore.

I am not an expert when it comes to analyze the market. While it’s true that the Mirrorless market didn’t grow lately it is also true that the Nikon 1 system they launched isn’t really an…let’s say “exciting” system. Overall I think there is still a gap between Mirrorless and DSLR cameras. And I hope the NEX-FF can be one of these cameras that can appeal the hard core DSLR user. Let’s see if Sony will do it right!

If you really want to know more about the non exciting Nikon 1 system read the review at Riflessiphotografici.

(SR5) “Lens-camera” to be announced within the next 3-4 weeks (tell that the CNET guys).

Share

The CNET guys unveiled on a Youtube video that they don’t believe the rumor I posted about the “Bodyless” Lens-camera is correct. You may tell them that the first two “lens-cameras” will be unveiled within the next 3-4 weeks. So there is not a lot you have to wait to see them for real. As I told you before there will be two lenses with integrated sensors and Wifi and NFC connection. You can remotely control the lens via smartphone. The two cameras:

1) One is the already mentioned “Lens-camera” with RX100MII sensor and  Zeiss lens.
2) The second model will feature a 10xzoom lens with 1/2,3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor.

Now, I am curious to hear from you guys:

I bet tomorrow we will get

Ian:A new magazine, “Imaging Edge,” is going to be released, which will apparently feature photography and video with an emphasis on Sony products and “Sony Artisans of Imagery.” An 8-page “preview” was featured in recent editions of both American Photo and Popular Photography magazines, both of which are by the same publisher as Imaging Edge, Bonnier Corporation. The magazine seems to be in collaboration with Sony. The first issue is scheduled for September (although magazines often release their issues before the date on the cover). The site http://www.imagingedge.com has some information, says “In partnership with Sony” and also lists some workshops by Sony.
