New RX100MII gets DxOmarked.

Share

DxOmark (Click here) already posted the full test of the new RX100MII. And indeed the camera manages to have score a 20% better high ISO result. And obviously the competition cannot match the RX100/RX100MII quality. DxO writes:

Until such time that rivals adopt the Sony unit, or something similar (like the sensors found in the Nikon 1 cameras), it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to compete on level terms. For the moment at least, the highly pocketable Sony Cyber-shot DSC RX100 and the new Mk II version have no real equal.

(SR4) Sony A99 sales goal has been reached and surpassed. New price drops coming this summer.

Share

A very long time trusted sources shared some good news about the A99 sales and future. First of all Sony’s sales forecast not only has been matched but there were 5% more sales than expected. The same source also told me new A99 price drops (worldwide!) can be expected to be launched this summer. Along the new firmware that will be announced too.

Sounds great!

P.S: Yesterday’s A99 deals are just the start! 6ave has two A99 superkits: [shoplink 19386 ebay]One for $2,271 (Click here)[/shoplink] and another [shoplink 19387 ebay]one for $2,280 (Click here)[/shoplink].

New Metabones Nikon G to E-mount Speed Booster announced. And Rokinon 16mm in Stock.

Share

It’s definitely a Speed Booster day! A couple of hours ago I wrote you about the new A to E-mount Speed Booster coming in August. And now Metabones announced a Nikon G to NEX adapter too! it’s already in Stock and shipping on their store (Click here). Now you can tell your Nikon friends that they have no excuse anymore to switch over to the NEX system with their G lenses :)

And another new product is in Stock for the first time: The Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 for A-mount ships now at BHphoto (Click here).

Metabones A to E-mount Speed Booster coming in August. Vizelex clone now in Stock.

Share

SAR reader Alan got a confirmation from metabones that they will start to sell an A-mount Speed Booster adapter for NEX cameras in August! That’s great news! All current Speed Booster for NEX can be found at Adorama (Click here).

And in the meantime a third company is now offering a “Speed Booster” alike adapter. Fotodiox launched the Vizelex Cannon Nikon G to E-mount adapter which is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here). But from first testings at personal-view

we know that the quality is inferior compared to the (more expensive) Metabones.

The best lenses for your NEX7 according to DxOmark.

Share

After the A99 DxOmark (Click here) also published the list of best lenses for the Sony NEX-7. The best prime is the 50mm f/1.8 (it beats the Zeiss lenses too!) and the best zoom is the 10-18mm wide angle zoom. It’s interesting to read that conclusion from DxO:

“Designing lenses smaller than their retro-focus equivalents remains a challenging prospect, however, Sony has introduced a couple of ‘pancake’ type primes and compact zooms that perform well. The range also includes several high-performance primes, although image quality assessment based on the 24-Mpix Sony NEX-7 means that sharpness scores aren’t quite as expected. Whether that’s due to the limitations of current lens designs only time will tell.”

I hope more quality lenses will be announced along the next NEX-7 successor coming in late August!
