(SR4) Sony wants to price the A99 as low as possible. It’s a Full Frame A77 :)

Share

According to top sources the upcoming next Sony full frame cameras “main feature” will be the low price. What does it mean? There will be no new big special feature compared to the actual [shoplink 8461]A77 camera[/shoplink] (a part of course the bigger full frame sensor and improved EVF). Sony learned from the A77 customer reaction and improved many details. To me that sounds good! I don’t need new marketing bla bla features. The A99 should “just work”. The A99 will very likely feature a new 24 Megapixel full frame sensor. My suggestions? Improve the JPG engine, release the camera with a mature firmware (no more blackouts).

The Nikon D800 is priced at $2999 at Amazon and the new Canon 5DmarkIII at $3499 at Amazon. I think the Sony A99 should be priced at $2499 to compete against them! What do you think?

Sont expect any FF with optical viewfinder anymore! Bye bye A900 :(

In these days many “sources” contacted me to tell me that Sony has already “selected” the final A99 camera specs. Some A99 prototypes are being shown to managers, dealers and photographers. All sources confirmed that there is no plan to launch the A99 now and that all we can hope is that Sony will give us an official look on the prototype model by end of this month or early May! It is Sony’s plan to launch the A99 in late August/early September like they did last year with the [shoplink 8461]Sony A77[/shoplink].

P.S:: I hope Paul Genge statement will turn out to be truth when he told to David Kilpatrick (Click here):  “wait for the FF SLT– you’ll not regret it’. So don’t buy the Nikon D800 and Canon 5DmarkIII  :)

Minolta 70-210mm f4 versus Canon 70-200mm f4 L IS at Photoclubalpha (Click here): “Most of all, comparing this lens with the relatively expensive and much larger Canon it’s clear that the performance is either equal, or better. Take into account advances in coatings, and the effects of age on any lens, and I would have to think a new version of exactly this same Minolta lens would be stunningly sharp and ideal within the Alpha system

Amateur Photographer Magazine (not online!) tested the A57: “With its 16.1-million pixel sensor, 15-point AF and 10fps shooting with continuous AF, Sony’s Alpha 57 may suit aspiring sports and wildlife photographers. Tim Coleman puts it to the test.

Canon 5D Mark III ‘light leak’ causes underexposed photo’s from FotoVideo.nu on Vimeo.

When Sony launched the [shoplink 8461]Sony A77[/shoplink] we were one of the first websites to report the flaws and limits of the camera. You may would think that these kind of things would not happen with the Canon and Nikon cameras specially when they are aimed for the pro market. But as you see they are also having some troubles:

Canon 5D markIII ($3499)
Light leak issue problem (Canonwatch). And the problems has been confirmed by Canon itself (via CanonWatch).

Nikon D800 ($2999)
Greencast, memory card and tethering issues (Nikonrumors). “Exploded” D800 (Dpreview).

I hope Sony will not make a mess with the A99. They should release a mature product with no major flaws and ZERO Hardware problems. If they can manage to do it they may will dethrone the most sold DSLR camera of the moment (the Nikon D800 according to A. rankings).

(SR5) A new Sony products announcement is imminent!

Share

Good Morning and welcome to the new week :)

Guys, the tension is beginning to grow! According to top sources Sony is about to make a new product announcement within the coming weeks. I am pretty sure there will be a new NEX-C3 successor and I have been told that the NEX-C3 will get massive price drops this week (Check at [shopcountry 7207]). And than there is the new A37. I have no exact announcement date yet but I will know it soon ;)

I am still not 100% sure but there is a fair chance Sony will show “something Full Frame” too. My guess for now is that they will display a new FF SLT prototype like they did with the A77 months before the real announcement.

If you have some info to share drop me an anonymous message by using the contact form on the right sidebar. You can avoid to send me your real name and email address and no IP data gets stored. Would be nice if you use some kind of fake name I can track to see if you are (or will become) a trusted source or not. Thanks!

Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor
SR2=rumor from unknown sources
SR3=50% chance it is correct
SR4=rumor from known sources
SR5=almost certainly correct!

Sony NEX-7 and 50mm lens reviews!

Share

[shoplink 8448][/shoplink]

Short review at DigitalJournalOfPhotography (Click here): “The NEX-7 is capable of delivering hugely detailed files unmatched by rivals using an APS-C sensor, though the standard kit lens isn’t a particularly strong performer. Sony desperately needs to widen the E-series range adding more high-quality primes such as the superb Sony Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 Sonnar T*.

Shooting with the NEX-7 and SLR Magic 50 T0.95 Hyperprime and other ramblings…by Steve Huff (Click here).

Photoheadonline (Click here) tested the 50mm f/1.8 lens: “Shooting only a Close Up test on a lens usually doesn’t warrant a decision on whether a lens is worth buying or not, but in this case I feel very comfortable recommending this lens.

The 50mm f/1.8 lens is still hard to find in USA stores. But easier to find in Europe and Asia. Click these search links to find the lens at [shopcountry 8448].
The NEX-7 search links are here: [shopcountry 8450]. It reamins a hotseller in many countries: Amazon US (place 1), Amazon Germany (place 2), Amazon France (place 2) and “desaparecido” at Amazon UK (place ???).
