New Sony 50-150mm GM reviews

Preorders: BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama. Fotoerhardt, Fotokoch, Calumet, WexUK. Clifton. ParkCameras. CameraHouse.

The French website Phototrend tested the lens and concluded:

Sony pushes the boundaries of optics even further with the FE 50-150mm f/2 GM. Incredibly versatile, it combines a wide f/2 aperture with professional ergonomics, all in a compact size perfect for such a special gem.
It offers a high level of sharpness from full aperture , while allowing you to indulge in many photo disciplines : portraits, weddings, sports (indoors), etc. It can be seen as a (luxury) complement to the FE 28-70 mm f/2 GM , with which it shares the same optical behavior. Its autofocus is also terribly precise.
The Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM remains a very impressive zoom in more ways than one. A lens for very demanding photographers who are willing to pay the approximately €4,399 that Sony is asking. In fact, this new zoom becomes the most expensive Sony lens in the catalog

Curiosity: Sony considering chip unit spinoff

Share

Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering a spinoff and listing of its semiconductor business as soon as this year. The Japanese conglomerate may retain a minority stake in Sony Semiconductor Solutions after the spinoff, Bloomberg reported.

A Sony spokesperson said this:

The article is based on speculation and there are no such specific plans

While this is only a rumor, it’s unclear what effects this would have on the camera industry. Probably none…
