On July the 12th Sony might announce a new 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens too! Could be useful to have that 1mm wider option for active image stabilization and for vloggers. Cutting 5mm at the tele end to keeps the size about the same of the current 16-50mm PZ.
So this is what we will likely get on July 12:
Sony A6700 (26Mp, 4k120p, Ai features, updated body with bigger grip and front scroll wheel)
Sony 70-200mm f/4.0 G macro (much more compact than the current 70200mm G)
15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ
Like I told you previously there will be three more Full Frame cameras (!) following the A6700 announcement. if you don’t want to miss anything be sure to subscribe to those accounts:
Asobinet spotted a newly published patent that describes two lens designs. One is the currently available Sony 70-200mm GMII and the other one is a new yet not announced lens. The 150-400mm with constant f/4.0 aperture:
Focal length: 154.53-387.86
F-value: 4.12
Angle of view: 15.94-6.39
Image height: 21.64
Total length: 339.98
A patent is NOT a guarantee that this lens will hit retail. But it shows what Sony engineers are thinking about. This would be a variation of the current Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens. And maybe the differences are to small to justify the production of a 150-400mm variant. What’s your take on this?
