UPDATE on the A7IV firmware

Share

The one source that told me the A7IV firmware would be coming by end of February contacted me again. He said he got the info straight at the Sony event. So probably Sony made mistake with the timeframe. But it is definitely coming. And it’s also confirmed via the official Sony’s press release for the Creative Cloud app launch:

Creators’ App will be compatible with Alpha 7 IV, ZV-1F. Spring 2023: FX3, FX30. Alpha7 IV, Alpha 7R V, FX3, FX30 will need software update.

So the A7IV and ZV-1F will get an update soon for sure.

Curiosity: Fujifilm might soon launch the world’s first medium format Sports Camera, with Sony A1 sensor tech?

Share

It’s rare to see something truly new in the photography market. Most of the time we see many small evolutions. But this got my attention: In an interview published by Phototrend Fuji said they are working on the fifth generation medium format camera. And this one will be the world’s first Sports camera in this segment.

As you know all medium format sensors are made by Sony. So it will be interesting to see if the new GFX will have a newly designed Sony sensor inside. Maybe a sort of upscaled Sony A1 sensor?

Here are my thoughts on this news:

The Sony Alpha a7R V is the first full frame Alpha camera to feature high-resolution imaging with AI-based autofocus. Sony has put its best technology into the A7R V, calling it the “best-ever image quality for an Alpha body.” In my personal experience, the A7R V shows superior performance when taking portrait photography.

RUMOR: Straight from a Sony manager: 85mm f/1.2 GM will be announced within the next 3 months

Share

One of my best contacts was at the 50mm f/1.4 GM launch event organized by Sony. He asked the Sony manager when he can hope to get the rumored 85mm f/1.2. The manager answered it’s coming within the next 3 months.

I don’t know how seriously we can take fro granted the managers answer, but my contact told me that the managers sounded very honest about this. Let’s hope!
