RUMOR: Sony A7IV has 15 stops of DR

Share

image on top is a mockup

The A7IV tentative announcement is still scheduled for mid-end October. But it might be slightly postponed if the worldwide sensor production shortage doesn’t improve a bit. In the meantime I can share that the newly developed 33MP sensor combined with a new processor will allow to squeeze out 15 stops of dynamic range. At least that’s Sony marketing saying this. We have to see in real world test if this is a correct claim.

Sony A7IV rumored specs:

  • launch in October (if chip supply permits this)
  • Newly developed 33MP sensor
  • 15 stops of DR
  • 4k30 video is oversampled from 7K
  • 5.5 stops of IBIS (+ AS)
  • Same A7sIII body design
  • Full size HDMi
  • UHS-II SD-cards and CF Xpress cards

WILD RUMOR: Sony FX9 II specs

Share

I got rumors that Sony will launch a new high end E-mount cine camera before the end of this year. I got no solid specs yet…all I can share is this rumor that might or might not be true:

Sony’s FX9 II will using a new developed 8.7μm pixel size DCI 4K HDR BSI sensor to replace the IMX410. It can output multi based iso together for a ARRI Alexa look picture and up to DCI 4K 120p X-OCN recording by a new external recorder.
Sony’s 8K cine camera only comes for “VENICE II” now.
