A bunch of new Sony stuff reviews!
Image on top shows the excellent and cheap 35mm f/1.8 lens from Sony
Techradar (Click here) posted a new Sony A35 review: “In terms of performance, the SLT-A35 is highly responsive, while image quality – whether you’re shooting JPEGs and/or RAW files – is equally as impressive. When it comes to finding fault with this camera, there’s little for us to complain about“.
ThePhoBlographer (Click here) wrote an article about “The Best Lenses for Sony Alpha Mount DSLRs Under $300“. He tested the 50mm f/1.8, the 35mm f/1.8 and the 30mm f/2.8 macro lens. All three lenses are available at:
35mm DT at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay
35mm macro at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay
50mm at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay
SonyAlphaLab posted three new reviews:

9 months ago |Why Sony can’t build similar fix lenses for E-mount (less than 4 sm in length as 50mm f/1.8, the 35mm f/1.8 and the 30mm f/2.8 for A-mount)?
Steve Jones
9 months ago |The reason the lens is so short is that the A-Mount has a registration distance of 44.5mm vs the 18mm of E-Mount. Put that same lens design on E-Mount and it will be over 26mm longer. If the lens is redesigned to suit a short register, then it will no longer be retrofocal and the high angle of incidence will introduce colour shifting, fringing and vignetting at the extremities of the frame.
With a 35mm lens it won’t be dreadful, but it will certainly be noticeable.

9 months ago |Waiting for G/CZ lenses, not for DT! Though, 35/1.8 is a fantastic lens for the money

Thanks again for all of your fantastic SARs

9 months ago |Do you think Sony will ever make a compact wide angle DT prime like a 16/2.8 easy choice lens? I’d buy one for sure.

9 months ago |the 35/1.8 is the lens with the worst built quality i ever had, but the image quality and focus capability is indeed very very good

9 months ago |Yeah, the build quality sucks, but the image quality is fantastic. And I’ve taken it all over the place and the build hasn’t really been a problem.
It’s so damn cheap that if it breaks, just throw it in the bin and buy another one. It’s still a bargain.

9 months ago |I think a lot of the complaints regarding the build quality of the ‘easy choice’ lenses is theoretical rather than actual.. yes I wish they had a metal mount but have yet to hear of anyone that’s actually broken their mount off. This range is a secret (low cost, not so precious) jewel in Sony’s lens line up and I think slowly the review sites and magazines are publicising them as such… so time for some more please sony
… how about an ultrawide as suggested above, a 60mm macro or even a medium / slow 135mm? Or (in my dreams) a really cheap and plastic build tilt shift I can wave in front of my canon owning friends
…. The key driver though for any new easy choice would be IQ… plastic build, a little slow to keep costs down I can live with but IQ must be maintained.

9 months ago |You can find a Minolta 135 2.8 for about £250 on eBay. Full frame compatible. Autofocuses too.

9 months ago |Too expensive and second hand. I’d rather an updated easy choice version.

9 months ago |Hi folks!
Does anyone know if it’s possible to use Nikon lenses in these Alpha cameras with a simple (non optically corrected) adapter.
The only one I’ve seen online has an optical element. Couldn’t find one “ring” type without the cheap ass glass.
I’ll be buying my video gear in the upcoming months, and would really like to know if it is possible to use the Nikon lenses I’ll be getting with this camera.
Thank you guys!
