A triple Sony A55 review
Photographyreview (Click here) tested the Sony A55: “The Sony Alpha SLT-A55 is a great camera with an innovative design, great performance and excellent image quality. It’s not quite the sports camera I was hoping for but it’s a very capable all-round performer that most people will be very happy with – especially people who value video as much as still photos.”
Day 5 of the Sony A55 review at ThePhoBlographer (Click here). He also made some ISO tests and those are the conclusion for the RAW noise test: “When viewing images at a normal size, noise starts to become noticeable around ISO 1600 but it’s nothing to be concerned about. I probably wouldn’t make any post processing noise adjustments until ISO 6400 unless I was blowing up the image to a larger size. I think this is impressive ISO performance from a consumer DSLR. ”
Jhpvideotutorials (Click here) also tested the A55: “If you’re looking for a SLR style camera that takes much better HD video than Canon or Nikon SLR’s, and takes very good photos, then this camera might just be the one for you! If you’re a Photographer looking for the best image quality possible and plan to use studio lights, then I would not recommend this camera for you.” (P.S.: You have to click on the small page numbers at the bottom of the post to see all 5 page long review).

2 years ago |How can it be compared to Canon when Sony provides no manual control over aperture and shutter speed when shooting HD video!?

2 years ago |I am a video neophyte but I thought shutter speed was fixed? 30p, or whatever, is 30p. why would you switch to something else in the middle of a sequence?
Thomas
2 years ago |Shutter speed, as in the time it exposes each individual frame. It’s usually around 1/50th of a second.

2 years ago |The shutter speed actually changes the look of the video (same as photo). For instance, a slow shutter (1/25 or 1/30s) can create the blurring effect when shooting water fall. Exposure with faster shutter speed coupled with large aperture will create the depth of field. In addition, you need different shutter speed for PAL and NTSC area to get rid of the flickering light of fluorescent tube.

2 years ago |How can Canon be compared to Sony with such horrendous AF in live-view and video? How can Canon be compared to Sony without the multi-frame noise reduction, HDR, or panoramic modes?
Rhetoric is rhetorical.

2 years ago |I must admit that Sony is overall a better product but I cannot accept the lack of manual controls when video is one of the key feature of the camera.

2 years ago |for me all the auditors are paid by sony, no one speaks of ghosts, or the delay of the flash, the image of the child, (via Jhpvideotutorials), at ISO 3200 must have been made with topaz denoise. Not even the review of Dpreview to 3200 ISO showed a similar result.
I hope nell’A35

2 years ago |I WISH I were paid by Sony but instead I’m merely paid to sell cameras on a day to day basis. Which is akin to playing with toys and teaching others how to do so… so it’s not so bad.
We don’t make great money but it’s a job I can enjoy and that’s worth a lot these days.
That being said, Sergio, dpreview isn’t anywhere near the be all end all for digital imaging’s finalized perspective. Regardless, if an image has been shot in RAW, it has been shot solely for the fact that it retains as much color information as possible. Why? So when we manipulate it, the loss is reasonable. And since all RAW images are manipulated, even if just standard contrast, saturation, and sharpening… how can you trust any of them to be representative of anything other than what the photographer feels to be what’s good for them? Canon and Nikon’s promo images are all post processed to the hilt and it is no surprise that people expect their images to look the same. If a little noise reduction is applied… it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
I’m not going to begrudge someone their ability to manipulate RAW data to their specifications. If they got it to look so good, indicating that the camera is certainly capable of excellent output, where is the complaint?

2 years ago |This rumor site is getting as useless as 43rumors site. Just post every instance of every reviews that comes, even after the camera has been out over a year. Someone should create REALSonyAlphaRumors and REAL43Rumors.

2 years ago |Bye the way did you know that if you want to read rumors only than you only have to bookmark that link? http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/category/rumors/
And It’s impossible to satisfy everyone here. Someone wants more SR1 rumors, someone else wants only high quality rumors (SR4-SR5), someone likes the fact that he can read reviews and news too, someone else likes it not.
Please realize guys that I can’t make everyone happy!!! Just skip the news if you don’t like. And if you don’t like that website than GoodBye.

2 years ago |You don’t have to respond to idiots like calxn. I come to this site to see what’s new (that means, news, links, and other tidbits). If it was just a rumor site, I won’t visit it often (probably not at all).
