Dac
4 months ago |What language is that guy speaking?!
Frank
4 months ago |erm, let me guess, English? Perhaps you should get your hearing checked?
Dac
4 months ago |My hearing is fine, thanks for your concern. Are you sure that is English? Could be Chinglish, but I neither speak or understand the dialect…
Lance
4 months ago |Don’t be a dick, Dac.
Frank
4 months ago |Yes I am sure. Can you speak Mandarin Chinese?
Dac
4 months ago |You must speak it for sure, since you understand chinglish and the gibberish coming from that guy trying to sell people into something (presumably that adapter he keeps pointing at).
Frank
4 months ago |So no then, you can not speak Mandarin Chinese.
Next time show some respect for somebody who is speaking using a non-native language so that “we” can understand them.
He may struggle with English, you are just ignorant.
Dac
4 months ago |I may be ignorant, true that, but I would never sell you into something using reps that don’t speak your mother’s language adequate. In my humble ignorant opinion, that is minimal business courtesy for the consumer. If you and others stop waving that away, you might as well start learning chinglish or mandarin or orange or whatever dialect they speak in the far east, for you acknowledge contempt for correct communication and language use in detriment of your own basic human rights.
Frank
4 months ago |There’s no “may” about it.
alan
4 months ago |It’s actually English with a heavy Hong Kong Cantonese accent, quite different from the Mandarin English accent if you’re familiar with them.
If they’re going to market this to the world, I agree that they probably should hire someone with better English. That’s not difficult in Hong Kong. These small tech companies often fail in the last mile — presentation.
But Dac, there’s something to be said for English as no longer “your” (whatever you are) mother language, but more like a global language no longer tied to the UK or the US or Canada. So I also think it’s good to be open to other accents — at least to the point that you don’t become frustrated and irritated.
alan
4 months ago |In fact the (German?) admin Andrea’s English is often off. But there’s something about an Asian face speaking English in a funny accent that particularly ticks people off.
Frank
4 months ago |I am sure that non-English speakers get ticked off by ignorant people speaking English VERY LOUDLY at them, like it’s some sort of universal translator.
CTPhotographX.com
4 months ago |I wish I were intelligent enough to speak multiple languages. He did well. Fine example of Asian education beyond our lacking American system, which doesn’t even teach our own kids how to speak/read/write English properly.
Frank
4 months ago |You mean like using “true that”?
alan
4 months ago |Reading Dac’s comment below made me realize he or she is a European racialist who jumps at any opportunity to spread venom online – anonymously of course, and generalizing irrationally about the entire “Far East” with a bizarre mixture of fantasy and received images. Complaining about English accent was just an excuse.
Frank
4 months ago |Not just me that thought it then.
OneTrackMind
4 months ago |From someone who’s been to mainland China many times for work, I can honestly say that this guy did a good job. His English isn’t perfect but I was able to understand him fine.
My mandarin is TERRIBLE and would be so embarrassed to use it, so I applaud this guy for being able to do it, and having the guts to do it on camera!
Steve
4 months ago |No it’s clear that this Dac poster is a very ugly person inside and doesn’t even realize it.
As the world gets smaller people like Dac seem to get more and more fearful of people with different cultures and language.
Nonmem
4 months ago |It actually boils down to sales 101?

Wheelus
4 months ago |I hate to break it to you Dac but there are more people in China who speak English than in the rest of the world combined. So who decides what correct English is?
Rick
4 months ago |Yes, his English is very bad. but hey he is not a native speaker
I think i can still get what he is trying say. Isn’t that enough?
Please don’t be ignorant. I wonder if you can speak two languages.
true homer
4 months ago |Don’t watch, don’t complain, dic..problem solved for you. You think you can do better, go make a video showing your face and post it here. LOL
Dean
4 months ago |$299? for a adaptor?? or maybe $29.9?
Frank
4 months ago |If you think you can make one so cheaply then do it and undercut their prices. Put your money where your mouth is.
Dac
4 months ago |No adapter from china should cost more than 30$ since the humanoids making the things are worse off than middle age slaves (no working rights – less pay than one needs to eat and have a roof over one’s head) and all the cash goes to the communist party kingpins and/or hegemonies.
Frank
4 months ago |Make one then.
alan
4 months ago |But half the things you buy in Europe are made in China.
Frank
4 months ago |…and the other half contains components made in China.
Nonmem
4 months ago |wow, for a guy who does not speak Chinese language you know a LOT about their economical system, or rather you drew your conclusion from biased political viewpoint? I am no fan of comminism but admire the guy who singlehanded develop this adapter, put in a mini-motor in the adapter, has some sort of electronics/firmware crosstalk with the NEX without have the E mount protocol (is this the RIGHT ENGLISH word to use? I am no longer sure).
I agree it is not the Walmart 1.99 price tag you got used to, but if I can use it on my NEX-7 and 4 G lens, I will buy it.
I trust most of us come to SAR for rumors/facts about the technology, not ideology, ecnomics 101 or English lessons. Therefore please tolerate our detest against trolls.
tesilab
4 months ago |“Crosstalk” refers to interference between signals destined for different recipients as in two sets of communicates talking across from one another, not as in talking across one line between the camera and the lens.

4 months ago |Make one for me too, dic. lol

4 months ago |If it could fit with FF Nex, you would think it is so cheap.
Lance
4 months ago |Have you seen the prices for other active adapters? Happy searching.
a900andanex5
4 months ago |Looks as though it hunts a little, but excellent news and pleased to see the final comment on the specifications, that manual focus will be available in the final version.
If we do get a fullframe NEX and they can make a similar adaptor for that too, then these little Zeiss lenses will shine.
Rick
4 months ago |It will be better if the video shows how fast it can focus. $299 won’t be too expensive if the focus speed is acceptable. (Based on this video, it is not.)
Drew Veeneman
4 months ago |Awesome!!!
John Maverick
4 months ago |Could a fullframe NEX now be any more enticing?
CTPhotographX.com
4 months ago |Good call! For those willing to deal with the soon to come price explosion on a dead lens system, that may not provide for manual focus option. But the idea is there, in essence.
Fants
4 months ago |The price of G lenses exploded a few years ago already…can’t imagine an expensive adapter’s going to make it that much worse.
Nik
4 months ago |Arguably though they are still somewhat under-valued compared to other Zeiss designed glass that works on more/more installed systems. If adapters become more reliable, affordable, and available I imagine the price will continue to creep up just as a lot of old lenses seem to be doing.
CTPhotographX.com
4 months ago |Not “just like using original sony lens”… unless it has a manual focus override. Though I applaud the efforts and bravado necessary for such innovation towards a dead lens system, I would hope it wouldn’t be crippled in the other direction, preventing any manual focus… which users of this level of glass, with peaking, would be more likely to appreciate.
a900andanex5
4 months ago |The DEO-Tech website is stating that this is the Beta and that the final version will have manual focus: I’d agrea; I’d be far less interested if there’s no option to focus manually.
Nonmem
4 months ago |I think somewhere I read the developer (not the guy in the video, he is a business partner with the developer who, as far as I know, speaks no English, if that provides any comfort to Dac in terms of language purity) said that he is going to include the MF in the release version. Though that MF is also driven by the motor, while you can decide where to stop. At least that’s my understanding.
alan
4 months ago |The website checkout system doesn’t work. They’re overwhelmed at the moment, it seems.
Nonmem
4 months ago |Could it be that they’ve reached that 60 quota already?

4 months ago |I don’t think any online forum could be immune to this sort of behavior. He has his freedom of speech, as long as he does not promote hatred, which is a crime in most of the developed country.
Tom S
4 months ago |I agree – show some respect people, and I am also much more interested in knowing how fast this will focus. There are some nice Contax G lenses out there.
Rob
4 months ago |Concerned that, though you may gain the use of a better lens, overall performance in real world conditions will decrease because of loss of vibration compensation. To me, a net loss under all but a few shooting situations (this isn’t the camera combo I’d take outside for landscapes, etc., but indoors where it would be a loss).
harry lew
4 months ago |So are they saying the final shipping version will provide manual focus? Their copy is a bit confusing: “Manual focus is Enable (final version only)”
JoeNoName
4 months ago |Does it let you focus to infinity?
Does it have a glass in the adapter? <<If so, does it multiply the focal length of the lens?
Thank you.
a900andanex5
4 months ago |Existing adaptors already focus to infinity without any added glass.
The main difference with this version will be the electronics and the motor to enable the NEX to turn the screw drive focus in the lenses.

Can’t wait to add this to my collection!

4 months ago |Ive ordered one.
If its even half usable then my contax g system just doubled in value.
Nice.

4 months ago |I like it! I like it very much! I wish I’d bought some of those superb Contax G lenses when they were affordable
taro
4 months ago |The adapter looks very good. However there is no electric aperture feature on it. There is no electronic aperture feature on any Contax G lens. Contax G user since 1995.
Annex
4 months ago |There couldn’t be electronic aperture. It’s a manual click ring.
EXIF however would’ve been nice but difficult and understandably not a high priority.
Pog
4 months ago |Yes, maybe what they mean is the aperture information is passed to the camera and recorded in the image.
Nonmem
4 months ago |I guess we will need to manually adjust the aperture value on NEX, just like when you use the Contax C/Y lens on a Canon camera. Worked for me.
taro
4 months ago |That’s right. It works in both A and M modes. I bought my NEX-7 to use Contax G lenses and have no problems with this.
Ms
4 months ago |Geez…and I was wondering why the 90/2.8 sonar exploded in price…. It’s bc guys like you can stop talking up the contax-G series
. Can you just hold back a bit until I get a full set? Prices are getting kinda crazy!

4 months ago |This Mr. Not-So-Funny-Guy up there may have a hearing impairment or a lack of command of English language himself not to understand the Chinese rep., properly. His eloquence is by far sufficient to me to understand every word he says perfectly well.
Would love him to try his German/French/Spanish or whatever else, for a change. Wonder what funny accent he might be having.
