New Sigma E mount lens preorders at BHphoto (Press text error: 30mm not for A-mount yet)

Important note: Sorry guys, the 30mm f/1.4 lens announced by Sigma today is NOT coming for A-mount. The first official press release posted on Dpreview contained an error (P.S.: check the comment section with people complaining). Damn, that was likely the most interesting lens announced by Sigma today
To learn more about the new Sigma lenses for Sony check out the links I posted below. They do contain the full lens presentation and the original MTF charts. Here are the links to the Sigma page and the BHphoto product pages that should soon allow you to hit the preorder button:

4 months ago |how much would the 60mm lens cost?

4 months ago |whatever $$ you want for that crap 2.8, will be $99 at the end of year.

4 months ago |The link is pointing to the preorder of the Sigma-mount version of the lens.
I would be very happy and a buyer if i got it wrong but in every anouncement, just nikon, canon and sigma mounts are mentionend. This lens is not coming in Sony mount.

You truly need to take a “chill pill”… Your troll type posts are uncalled for. The “Get into your head” comment could’ve been said in a multitude of other ways. @Rooru S. Is a good example of one of the ways to do it. Although that would probably be as far as I’d go.

Seems like internet comments sections are places where sad people vent their anger and insult others. Constructive comments are hard to come by.

4 months ago |It’s definitely not been announced for a-mount yet… Always a possibility it’ll follow at some point, but to be honest the current version is great – just buy that instead!

4 months ago |Admin, please stop posting wrong information. The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 isn’t coming for A-mount yet. Stop it.

4 months ago |Are these smooth barrels just a none beveled approach to the grip area for manual focusing?
Sky_walker
4 months ago |I like how they put the header “Sigma innovation – renewed!” where the only innovative thing with these E-mount lenses is horrible manual focusing. I bet in 2 years time they’re re-release these lenses with proper focusing rings and ask twice as much for that. lol
Wheelus
4 months ago |Just soak your hands in water for 15 minutes until they are all wrinkled and you should be able to grip and focus with no problem.
FreXxX
4 months ago |19mm 2.8, 30mm 2.8, 60mm 2.8? Thats not really something new… I guess 19 and 30mm are the “old” ones but all in metal… Optically, these were good enough.
Wheelus
4 months ago |And they are grooved for easier manual focusing.

4 months ago |30mm f1.4 was the only lens actually interesting. That would have been sweet on Sony APS-C bodies.
Stan
4 months ago |Sigma already has 35mm F/1.4 on pre-order, which is widely considered a great lens. Why would you need a “not so pancake”, “not so cheap” and “not so good” lens at pretty much the same focal length and about 80% the price of the 35mm version. Chances are that if you have 699 (MSRP) to spend, you can pull together 899 (MSRP) for a better lens.
Admin, by the way, the link to BuyDig.com points to a 30mm f/1.4 Nikon lens and not to the e-mount f/2.8 version. Not sure if that is intentional.
RD
4 months ago |Is that an official price? The old 30mm f/1.4 was a little under $500. So paying an extra $400 is definitely something to think about, especially if you don’t have or don’t plan to buy and full frame camera.
Stan
4 months ago |Well, the price for the recently released Art series 35mm F/1.4 is official and can be found at B&H here:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/898837-REG/Sigma_340205_35mm_f_1_4_DG_HSM.html
The price for the 30mm F/1.4 pancake-ish looking one for nikon i got from here:
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SG30F14NA&ref=bizrate&omid=105&CAWELAID=1383248618
Notice that I took a list price to compare MSRPs, rather than the current sale price for 30mm. Since 35mm is new and is an awesome lens, i doubt it will go on sale anytime soon.

4 months ago |where is the aperture ring actually?
RD
4 months ago |Their isn’t one. Most, if not all, AF lenses for E-mount don’t have an aperture ring.
waldomarek
4 months ago |hm, weird, i was thinking manual focus ring, but somehow i typed aperture ring xD
so, anyone know where the manual focus ring is? o_O
RD
4 months ago |It looks like the entire front end the the barrel is the focus ring.

4 months ago |Well’ no matter what at least someone is trying to make lens for the e-mount’ curious though how much better the glass is compared to the previous 19 / 30 which are awesome to me’
Joel Richards
4 months ago |Wow. Those specs on the 60mm look great. I’d be skeptical but I’ve felt the 30mm (my copy anyway) lived up the the hype. If the 60mm is that much sharper and less distorted it might really be something. Of course, not being faster than 2.8 it is a shame its not a true macro lens…
aaron
4 months ago |hmm well my hopes are in Samyang and the new zeiss lens coming up now. Already have 19mm.. not going to invest in another sigma unless the quality is PHENOMENAL. I think many want more lens with aperture of 1.4~1.8
Gunnar
4 months ago |i just got my 19/30/2.8 set and am very happy with both lenses on my Nex 7, i cant imagine what should be dramatically improved in those new versions.. the 60mm looks very interesting though! i have a few 50mm and the Sony Sel50/1.8 is by far the least used out of them.. i just don`t like the focusing and its fly by wire, the Sigma 60mm might be a better option, somehow both Sigmas have a very useable fly by wire focusing compared to the Sony lenses.

4 months ago |These look really nice. It’s a bit surprising they didn’t opt for 90mm rather than 60mm, which is a better portrait length on APS-C.
Joel Richards
4 months ago |I actually disagree. I’ve got a 90mm (Contax) and a 58mm (Minolta MD–close enough to 60mm) and I personally prefer the 60mm on APS-C. Now the Contax is simply a better lens so it spend as much time on the camera but I like an effective focal length of 90mm (so 60mm in APS-C). Regardless, a 90mm version of this would be great too. I’m just glad someone is making a 60mm NEX lens instead of all these awkward 50mm mid-telephoto lenses.
John Maverick
4 months ago |Interesting. I wonder how much is focal length and how much is the lens?
I’ve got a Contax G 90mm also and am not particularly impressed with the bokeh either, even though many considered it to be a superior lens. In comparison, I would normally choose my 50/1.4 SMC Takumar although it won’t have the sharpness and is a bit short for controlling perspective distortion.
My reason for liking 90mm is based on using a 2008 Elmarit 90/2.8 which always amazes for subjects, even though conventionally speaking it’s not that fast.
Back on topic, and I agree that having the 60mm is really nice compared with another 50mm. In fact Sigma have done really well to offer a range of lenses with an emphasis on sharpness. It’s a nice complement to the SONY 24,35,50 with their more complex OSS f/1.8 designs.
Joel Richards
4 months ago |Never owned/used the 90mm Elmarit. I looked at it (briefly) but the cost was prohibitive. I picked up a 90mm Contax NOS for $200 so I won’t pretend to be 100% objective. However, I don’t mind the bokeh on the Contax. Comparing it with pics from the Elmarit I find it is pretty neck-and-neck overall although each seems to excel in different circumstances.
While I like super fast lenses as much as the next guy/gal, there is something to be said for slower primes that are optimized for sharpness and contrast over speed, speed, speed. The 30mm Sigma bokeh is a little middling IMHO so that may be the achilles heel of the new 60mm where we are likely to see more bokeh wide open.

4 months ago |Sorry can someone explain the height of this lenses? Why 30mm is the shortest, 19mm is medium height and 60mm is the tallest? Is 30 having the least elements?

4 months ago |But how can we shoot commercial work with “art” lenses? We need a “J” version for Journalists, and a “C” version for Commercial Photography. “W” for War Togs? (in camo)…
Oh wait, the “C” version is already for “contemporary” line of Siggy.
Ok we need a “CA” version for Contemporary Art.
Oh wait, they wouldn’t do well advertising lenses with more CA.
I’m so confused. Teenage Ad Hoc Marketing Campaigns really jerk my giblet. Yes, giblet. I’m old.

On the Sigma UK site it lists the 35mm 1.4 as being available in various mounts including Sony

I think Sigma need to clarify this situation
