Slrmagic 28mm f/2.8 reviews
EosHD (Click here) tested the SLRmagic 28mm f/2.8 with E-mount: “Essentially with SLR Magic you have a pre-approved selection of glass that is quirky and stylistic. I had tons of fun shooting with this lens and it doesn’t break the bank, it’s probably the cheapest E-mount lens on the market.”
Also Steve Huff (Click here) reviewed the same lens: “This 28 2.8 lens is somewhat classic in its rendering when shot wide open and when you stop it down to f/8, forget about it! It sharpens up and gives really great results. ”
You can get that lens on eBay only (Click here).

When this lens was Branded Mitakon earlier in the year it only cost $80
Now that is is branded Slrmagic it costs $150 OR you can have it with a macro tube for an EXTRA $100 Yes that’s correct $100 for an extension tube.
How do they get away with it?
If you want a 28mm lens then spend the money on a legacy lens and an adapter, then you can add an extension ring for $10 (worst case scenario)
You can buy seriously high quality legacy glass for this kind of money, I’m sure this is a decent lens but it just isn’t worth the asking price, it’s not as if it has AF or auto aperture and you could probably buy a handful of high quality legacy glass for this price made by the likes of Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Konica, Tamron, Tokina etc go take a look on ebay!

8 months ago |For the money, you might as well find an old Vivitar 28mm f/2 lens on ebay and an adapter for whatever mount you find it in. I managed to score a Vivitar 28/2 in Canon FD mount for $5 at a garage sale, and it has tons of character wide open (swirl bokeh), yet is sharp when stopped down. It might be a little bigger than the SLR Magic lens with the adapter, but it’s a lot cheaper and gives great results.

8 months ago |Just picked up a 35mm 1.7 CCTV lens with NEX Adapter from eBay for $35 shipped. Check out the review and amazing samples in this post: http://www.seriouscompacts.com/f41/bang-buck-sony-nex-3-fotasy-35mm-f-1-7-a-3294/
I am still about a month away from getting my NEX 7 but I already own 2 lenses and a few other accessories! SO EXCITED!

8 months ago |SLR Magic is definitely overpriced for what basically amounts to a cheap C Mount lens, permanently adapted to fit an E Mount camera. They are cool lenses that offer a very unique look, but don’t overpay by 3-4 times just because it says “SLR Magic” on it.

8 months ago |I wish they were my photos. Unfortunately I am not as as skilled. I am not sure if I am allowed to post links to eBay. If you are interested in the lens, just go to eBay and search for “35mm CCTV” and you should be able to find the lens and a E Mount adapter for about $35 shipped.

Go get a Industar 69 for 40$ if you want the soft dreamy effect (with russian marvellous continuous aperture) or spend 80$ for a super sharp OM Zuiko 28 2.8, even wide open.
And, as stated before, extension tubes cost 10$.

8 months ago |the only thing going for this is the size, IQ is so summer 1952. the lack of microcontrast wide open and the intense contrast stopped down just make every shot with this lens very “original”, as in to say “cheap”. as many already mentioned, there are tons of other choices out there better than this one, just not sure about the size.
seeing this lens, the sel16 starts to look better _and_ cheaper, certainly renders color contrast better…
