Sony 85mm f/1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T* review at SLRGEAR
SLRgear just posted their Sony-Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 review. And they say the “Zeiss is one of the sharpest lenses we’ve tested“. But we already knew that or not?

really? I own one but I have to say there is definitely room for improvement. The lack of SSM for one, the Longitudinal CA for another. Optically Its almost equal to the $200 MF 85mm F1.4 from Samyang.
Personally I’d have to say the STF 135mm and the Zeiss 135 both better than this lens (shame the STF is MF only). From what I’d seen of the Canon 85mm F1.2, I’d say it also surpasses the Zeiss in the areas lacking, mentioned above.
Never-the-less, a great lens, worthy of its price tag.

2 years ago |For the cost it should have SSM. Canon has had an all electronic mount since 1987. To release a lens in 2006 with screw driven autofocus is inexcusable. Hopefully according to rumors on this site it will soon be updated with SSM.
