The not so real roadmap :)

The Japanese magazine “Nippon camera” published that camera roadmap that created quite a buzz on the Internet. As you see the magazine lists the NEX-7r, NEX-F3R and NEX-9. And there is no SLT camera. This lead to some speculation that there will not be any new A-mount camera this year. As you saw from yesterdays A58 announcement this is’t true. There will be a NEX-7 successor named NEX-7n (and not NEX-7) and there will be an A77 successor this summer. The FF NEX comes in 2014 and not in late 2013 as suggested by their roadmap. So stop being worried

3 months ago |There will be A65 successor? Or another middle-level boby?
The Lotus Eater
3 months ago |There needs to be.
The A58 is too low spec in key areas to compete with D5200 and 600D/60D. There needs to be an A65 sucessor to compete with mid-level Canikon DSLRs.
Carl
3 months ago |Maybe they plan to move the A78 down market as well?
Marcohard
3 months ago |I guess there will be only two level APS-C and two level full frame for Sony in the future.
X
3 months ago |You wrong. A58 for $600 and “A78″ for $1300 +|-$100. There must be something between them.

3 months ago |It would be really great to here any rumors on possible RX1 development. Will we have a chance to see FF RX with parfocal lens, or such lens would kill compact-camera idea and we should only hope for FF NEX as a FF “compact” with zoom.
John Maverick
3 months ago |The RX1 has already been released;-). Parfocal lenses aren’t a good match for mirrorless because they are so big.

3 months ago |I was actually looking at the image yesterday and I find some of the other columns interesting. So if this calendar is somewhat true (but missing things), then it looks like the D400 might actually be real. I don’t know much about it, but from reading the SAR comments about the D7100 release, it’ll be interesting to see how the features of the D400 stack up with Sony’s equivalent.
the D4X – I’m kind of interested to see what kind of a bump this camera gets. Will it be the 36MP sensor from the D800 and still keep that crazy FPS with limitless buffer?
The biggest head scratcher for me is the listing of the Panasonic GH5 (slated for the end of the year). The GH4 just came out during the holiday months, and yet they are going to update it 12months later. Is the GH4 not doing well? I know the GH3 has become somewhat of a cult camera with it’s ability to be hacked, etc.
I know, I know…this is SAR. You might say ‘who cares’. But it’s good to know the competitive landscape to gauge where Sony’s going and what they’ll need to do to compete.
Hendrick
3 months ago |There is no GH4, just GH3 and GH2 (this is the one that can be hacked) so they are missing a GH4 unless Panasonic just wants to jump to GH5 straight.
I know what you are saying, however, because I dont think that Panasonic will release another flagship model a year after the GH3.
OneTrackMind
3 months ago |Whoops..sorry about that. Yes, u r correct. I mistakenly worked backwards from ’5′.
Thought I might have read that they are calling it the ’5′ to skip over the unlucky ’4′ connotations in the Asian market.

3 months ago |If they’ll make it sharp wide open, at least to match Canon equivalent – I’m fine with waiting till next year.

Where was it said that not until next year
I thought that 70-200 II is coming next summer

3 months ago |Rumors of a new 70-200/f2.8 have never been as strong as the rumors for the lens announced this week, so who knows whats going to happen or when!
Professional full-frame lenses like the one released in the last year or so are investments in a system, in this case it is the A-Mount system.
500/f4, 300/2.8, 70-400/f4.5-5.6, 70-200/f2.8 and Zeiss prime lenses like the new 50/f1.4 are normally only purchased by professionals or others that can afford them and high quality cameras like the a99 and not lower end products like the new Sony entry level SLT the a58.
I don’t see any of these lenses sell very well as long till Sony starts marketing more and better 7, 8, and 9 series bodies.

3 months ago |It says (in Japanese) that this is their 2013 wishlist, not a roadmap.

3 months ago |So, will there be an announcement of some sort on 2/25/2013?
Steve
3 months ago |Great question!!!
I forgot about the 2/25 announcement
Maybe a Sony Alpha 9 camera with a brand-new 50MP d800 killer and a sensor that beat any of the Canons in ISO performance

3 months ago |The A58 isn’t a camera it’s a joke. Sony are so tight they can’t even afford a metal mount!
Funny
3 months ago |Yeah right…the cost for metal is from buyers pocket, not sony’s pocket. You think it will be free?
Simon T
3 months ago |Oh poor Sony what next old man who works for Sony with tin can, dog playing tunes and begging for some cash? Please comical post at the best of times.
A58 is a DOA won’t sell well at all and Sony will be forced to withdraw it soon
Carl
3 months ago |Swap the mount with one from a Minolta film camera.
Simon T
3 months ago |Oh yeah like you buy a brand new camera to swap the mount out! NOT
It’s no cheaper than the metal mount A57 anyway so what’s the point (both are £499) Sony saved £1 on the mount cost and will lose a lot more on lost sales.
Say no to tight wad makers nobody else does plastic mounts and for obvious reasons

3 months ago |Andrea, so the nex7n is the last NEX for 2013?? PLEASEE say there will be NEX-6x with the new sensor later this year:D

3 months ago |nope.
Carl
3 months ago |The most interesting one on the list to me was the 645D II. The world needs affordable digital medium format cameras.

3 months ago |Andrea, any rumors about the nex lens roadmap 2013/2014?? how about third party lenses, any news from tamron or sigma??
Sky_walker
3 months ago |+1. It makes perfect sense considering the price of A58.
