What’s your opinion: Should Sony kill the A7s line and focus on the FX3II only?

So folks, If you are waiting for me to share RELIABLE info about the Sony A7sIV I have to disappoint you. I really got nothing from trusted sources yet about this camera. All I know is that a couple of BIG cameras will be announced during the second half of the year with only the ZV-E10II coming before that in May/June.

So just for the sake of discussion: What’s your opinion on the possibility of merging the FX3 and A7s into one camera? They are both extremely similar when it comes to tech they use and the customer basis they serve. Yes, the A7s has an integrated viewfinder and yes the FX3 has an activa cooling system that makes it more bulky. But I wonder if a new FX3II with attachable electronic viewfinder would be a more ideal solution.

Should Sony merge the FX3 and A7s lineup?

Curiosity: Techinsight Sony A9III tear down shows it uses a new “IMX810AQL” sensor

Techninsights checked the inside of the Sony A9III and found out the sensor name is “IMX810AQL”. The important take away here is that this sensor is NOT listed at Sony Semicron. Which means it’s yet not available for sale to third party companies. So for now it seems Nikon and others will not have access to it.

How the Sony A1 feels after the firmware update containing some bugs :)

This is how your Sony A1 feels after the firmware update containing some bugs :) Joke’s aside, I am sure Sony is working hard to fix the issues regarding wifi connections, autofocus inconsistency, battery drain. Hopefully a fix is coming within this month!

One more thing: The A9III firmware update which was originally scheduled for an April 8 launch has been postponed to end of April. But now let’s see if Sony can keep that promise or if they will delay the launch to make sure there are no bugs.

Petition asks to Implement Custom LUT Option on the Sony a7s3

You can sign it now at Change.org. And also sign this petition from Philip Bloom where he asks Sony to make an MI shoe OLED EVF.

CineD explains why LUT support is so important:

If you own or use an FX 30, FX 3, FX 6, etc., then you can already load custom LUTs. Even some other Sony cameras offer this menu function, such as the vlogging ZV-E1 camera and the newish a7cII. Neither of the latter would be considered “Cinema” cameras by anyone. So it’s a little surprising that they would offer this functionality in some of their cameras, but not others – especially their flagship lowlight camera, the aS7III, which is used most by filmmakers.
