An interesting chat about the new Blackmagic 65mm 17K sensor

CineD writes:

On the show floor at NAB 2024, we stopped by Blackmagic Design’s booth to learn more about their upcoming URSA Cine 17K from Business Development Manager Stuart Ashton. The camera is still under development and won’t start shipping before the end of this year, but we could still get an idea of what is all about. Let’s take a look!

I am impressed Blackmagic did this kind of effort. it might force the hand of the big guys like Sony to also make truly large sensor “affordable” cameras!

World’ gone crazy? Micro Mirrorless Yashica collected nearly half a million dollar already on Kickstarter

Sometimes I think I’m not part of this world. I was sure that this Micro Yashica camera would not make significant sales, but now I see that they have raised almost half a million dollars on Kickstarter!

It would be interesting to study why this cheap made plastic camera with low quality image did go viral. What’s really so special on this one? I don’t really get it. Let me know in the comment system why you think this is selling strong!

Steven Soderbergh used the Sony A9III to shoot his latest movie “PRESENCE”

As reported by Patrick/Filmmakermag:

The film is shot like a POV entirely on a 14mm SONY photo lens with a gimbal. The a9iii is the first full frame global shutter which minimizes artifacts (jello effect) when panning. It’s a cool combo for a unique effect.

Global Shutter on video camera is a massive improvement. Hope to see it on the A7sIV and FX3II too!
