Premise: After fixing my broken contact form (that caused the loss of reliable rumors), trusted sources resent me reliable A7rV info. So what I am sharing today are specs that have been triple confirmed. And more A7rV specs will be shared the coming days once I get confirmation from other sources.

Sony A7rV specs:

  • Same 61MP sensor because all the power goes to the new processor.
  • TOTALLY New Autofocus system with AI deep learning
  • 8k 24p (cropped)
  • 4k60p 4k24p (full read out)
  • S cinetone is available
  • 8 stop IBIS (unclear yet if “native” or with “gyro data”)
  • Body looks like a mix between the Sony A7sIII and Sony A7IV.

About the new AI autofocus system:

The new AF system has a new AI processing unit for object recognition and human pose estimation. It is also a hint for what is coming in a next generation of sports cameras because it recognizes cars, trains, planes, insects,. on top of humans, animals and birds and this in a completely new way.

Sony Announces New Updates to Camera Remote SDK, adding enhanced functionality for Inspection and Drone applications

Press text:

SAN DIEGO, CA – October 12, 2022 – Sony Electronics Inc. today launched an updated version (version 1.06) of its Camera Remote Software Development Kit (SDK), adding compatibility with Cinema Line Cameras, the FX6, FX3, and FX30 and key functionality to support third parties in the development of bespoke applications utilizing the industry-leading performance of Sony cameras1.

Version 1.06 of the Camera Remote SDK, which is available to download for free starting today, offers new features that are particularly important in the areas of inspection, and multi-camera production.

A newly added Drone GPS sync with location information transfer function enables linking GPS information to still images in real-time with high precision. This is done by sending “ImageID”2 from SDK.

New operational menu settings, including the Reset / Save Settings, provides smooth and efficient workflows, especially when multiple takes are needed in a row.

The new compatibility with FX6 offers basic control3 supported by Content Mobile Browser and allows for up to five units4 to be controlled in parallel.

“We are fully committed to enhancing the SDK experience and maintaining an open policy for partners to find new and different ways to benefit from our industry-leading camera technologies,” said Yang Cheng, Vice President, Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc. “We’ve been thrilled with all the innovation we’ve seen to date from developers and are excited to continue to build this strong momentum.”

The Camera Remote SDK can be used to control several cameras in the Sony camera range including newly added Cinema Line cameras, with the full list of compatible cameras available here.

About Camera Remote SDK

Camera Remote SDK allows users to control Sony’s cameras remotely from a computer, this includes changing the camera settings, to remote shutter release and live view monitoring. With this SDK, software developers can design bespoke applications tailored to business requirements, integrating Sony’s professional equipment for size-critical drone and speed camera systems, as well as other medical, education, government, and e-commerce functions.

Our reader Martin Marek created this open-source Burst Photo app

Martin made a Burst App that is freely available on the Mac App Store.

I made a free, open-source app that brings the computational photography tech in smartphones to professional cameras. In other words, it is now possible to get relatively usable images at ISO 204,800 (see the attachment).
The app is completely free and open-source. I do not have any way to financially benefit from it. I simply want to help photography enthusiasts enjoy a bit of computational photography on their main camera. https://burst.photo. I genuinely believe that the app is useful and that many of your readers might like to know about it. All you need to do is capture a burst of raw images, convert them to DNG, and drop them into the app.
I’ve created an Instagram account that includes new photos and side-by-side comparisons with Lightroom and DxO. I think you’ll like the results 🙂
