(SR3) Sony rumored to finally launch the 16-55mm f/2.8 APS-C E-mount lens in 2018?

This info comes from a source whom shared a couple of correct rumors in the past but also was wrong one the A7sIII rumor he shared in September. So this means we have to take it with a grain of salt. But I certainly hope he is right on track with reliable rumors when it comes to the info he just shared:

Part of roadmap for this year contains lenses:
400/2.8 FE (confirmed)
16-55/2.8 E
135 f? FE

Part of roadmap for this year contains cameras:
a5x00
a7s3
a73

Next Samyang lens should also be 135mm probably f/2.8.

Thanks to the source for this!

Sony beats Nikon and is now number two company with most rented gear at Lensrentals

Lensrentals reports:

Sony out rented Nikon this year and is slowly closing the gap to Canon.

And Dpreview readers did choose the A7rIII as camera of the year.

So it seems like Sony is slowly getting closer to the number one position. But 2018 Canon and Nikon will fight back with their new FF mirrorlss system cameras. We have to see if that’s too late for them or if Sony has to be worried again.

Let Sony know what E or A-mount lenses should be released as next!

This is the time of the year where we usually talk about what should arrive in 2018 to make us happy. Comment this post to let Sony know what kind of lens they should absolutely make as next. Please follow theses rules:

– max 3 lens suggestions
– please don’t go too strange with focal lengths and apertures (try to be a bit realistic).
– please mention if the lens should be FE, E or A mount

this would be my list for examples:

– 21mm f/1.8 FE
– 50mm f/1.2 FE
– 135mm f/1.8 FE

I will sum up your suggestion in a poll to be posted in early January!

For fun: Image of the 80-200mm f/1.4 :)

Sony teases the CES show conference

Sony published this special CES page. It has a countdown to tease the press conference which will be video streamed live at 5:00 pm PST on Monday 8th January. All it say is “See our President and CEO, Kaz Hirai, unveil a new generation of Sony innovations

Usually at CES there is no Alpha stuff announcement. But I am not giving up the hope yet. And there is still a Sony registered camera with the code “WW 541200” that has yet NOT be announced. But like I said, this camera might as well be announced in February before the CP+ show start.

Thanks Dan!
