Sony A7rII-A7r-A7II-A7 cameras no more available at Amazon USA and European stores!

A7rII

After Euroepan stores also the world’s biggest online store sold out their entire Sony A7 camera Stock with the exception of the A7sII. Check out:
1-2 months shipment time for the A7rII
1-2 months shipment time for the A7II
1-2 months shipment time for the A7r
1-2 months shipment time for the A7s
1-2 months shipment time for the A7

And also the A6300 kit version will ship in 1-2 months only.

Why does this news matter for the future camera releases? it’s hard to imagine Sony announcing and shipping any future Sony A9, A99II or A7m3 camera soon. Those camera are more likely to ship in early 2017 instead :(

In a previous report I told you that European stores have the same Stock issue. They got told by Sony that a new Sony A7 camera Stock is expected to arrive in September only.

Next strange combo: 2000mm Nikkor with an NEX-7 attached.

[shoplink 33180 ebay]DSC00702[/shoplink]

SAR reader Christine A. sent me that picture of her Sony NEX-7 attached on the [shoplink 33180 ebay]2000mm Nikkor[/shoplink]. That lens sells for around $20,000 on [shoplink 33180 ebay]eBay (see here)[/shoplink]. Only 300 of these catadioptric lenses have been built by Nikon!

I asked Christine if she could send me some image samples taken with the combo but the answer was:

I don’t have any photos taken with it, as it weights 27.5 kilos, including the gimbal and I can’t find anything to mount it on!

It’s a stunning lens but my tests show how impressive the smaller FE 55/1.8 still is. :)

Sony will invest more money in stacked CMOS sensors production. And insights on Sony’s new X-OCN video codec.

Two Sony news:

1) Fdtimes reports about the new Sony 16-bit X-OCN format (eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative). Like RAW, it retains everything the sensor sees. Unlike RAW, it promises lower bit rates and greater ease of use (see image above). Could be useful for future high End E-mount cameras too!

2) Thewrap reports: Sony Corp Unveils Plan to Raise $3.6 Billion via International Stock and Bond Offering. Sony plans to use the money from the issuance of new shares to increase its production capacity of stacked CMOS sensors in its Devices segment, which it hopes will lead to additional profits.
