Mariusz:I thought that could be interesting for you and your readers, as I was one of the people that was looking for this kind of video but couldn’t find it, so I decided to record it myself. It’s a vlog where I’m testing the 28mm f2 lens from Sony for a purpose of vlogging. Also it shows the slow motion and low light capabilities in real life of the Sony a7rii.

Sony’s New CMOS Sensor Incorporates Polarizer

bildschirmfoto-2016-12-15-um-21-07-16

Sony announced a new backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor at IEDM 2016 which is equipped with integrated polarizers. Nikkei reports:

A polarizer is a kind of filter that transmits only light in a specific polarization state and reflects light in the other states. A prototype of the new sensor is equipped with four kinds of polarizers that transmit linearly-polarized lights (linearly-polarized waves) with different polarization directions (polarization angles: 0, 45, 90 and 135°).
In the lecture, the group emphasized that the transmittance and extinction ratio of the prototype are satisfactory. It disclosed data to prove that it has achieved a higher extinction ratio than that of a conventional polarization camera in the wavelength range of 400-700nm. Also, the sensitivity and extinction ratio of the new sensor are less dependent on the incident angle.

Thanks Barry!

Lyubo:We finished our new actionsport video, shot in Austria in March and April. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFmub_EbVcg It is all filmed on the A7S II with a few shots on the Gopro4. And regarding lenses, it was mostly shot on the Samyang Emount 8mm fisheye, Sony 24-70 f4, and Sony 55-210, with a few shots on the Samyang 50mm f1.4, and the Sony 10-18mm f4.
I hope you like it, and if the viewers have any questions about how we shot it, the gear, editing process, etc., I’d happy to answer.
