New Sony A7rII tests by Cinema5D, EosHD and more…

Cinema5D tested the video capability of the camera and writes:

We did test the dynamic range and found there’s about 12.3 stops of dynamic range on the Sony A7RII. So that’s very nice. The A7S does about 11.8 in 4K (with an external recorder) and the Sony FS7 goes up to 12.4 in our tests.
It is amazing though to see this kind of quality recorded internally in such a small camera body. And the A7S was recorded in ProRes, so the XAVC-S codec on the A7RII is certainly doing a god job here. Wow!

EosHD writes:

The 5 axis stabilised 42MP sensor appears at first glance to be a game changer. I have never known such a well balanced, high performance chip. It looks significantly less noisy at first glance than the Canon 5DS. I say Canon have a lot of catching up to do.

4) A7Rii first impressions thread at SonyAlphaForum.

5) Sean Cook:I just opened the files you linked to this morning, and for the first time we have a true high-iso photo. I have opened it in Adobe Camera Raw, and have attached the fullsize photo, a 100% crop and a 2000 pixel wide version. The photo is shot at ISo 25,600, and being an A7s owner, I have to say the file looks really good. I don’t generally shoot my A7s at 25,600 of couches in daylight, so I can’t say exactly how it compares, but it looks basically on par with the A7s. SAR reader Albert tested the new Sony 90mm FE macro lens autofocus performance and posted the results on SonyAlphaForum (Click here). He noticed the autofocus is fast even at full aperture and so reliable that it can focus on the ant eyes! Check all the autotofocus macro pictures on SonyAlphaForum! This is really a great lens and cause of sleepless nights because I don’t know if I should get that one or the new 85mm Batis :(

RX100 IV tested at Dpreview. New Slow motion at 100, 250, 500 and 1000fps.

Dpreview (Click here)
posted the full RX100m4 review. The camera gets an impressive 85% score and the Gold Award:

The RX100 IV gains some headline-grabbing features such as high frame rate and 4K video but it’s the smaller features that most impressed us. Continuous eye tracking, fast Raw burst modes with AF, and small user-interface changes have made the Mark IV the most responsive and enjoyable RX100 yet. It’s the most expensive in the series but is peerless in terms of capability.

And Mirrorlessons posted the slow motion test video at 100, 250, 500 and 1000fps with the RX100 IV:

Sony A7rII legacy test: “strong indication the sensor has no problem with magenta color shift at the borders anymore”.

There are still no reviews of the new Sony A7rII. Bit strange if you consider the camera is set to ship in a few days on August 5 according to Amazon US (Click here). Sony still doesn’t allow to shoot pictures with legacy lenses but 3D-Kraft (Click here) tested the [shoplink 38771 ebay]Zeiss Hologon T* 8/16 lens[/shoplink] on the A7rII and analyzed the results from the LCD screen. Of course this is not a very scientific way but 3D-Kraft has a good eye when it comes to legacy lens test. So these are his first impressions:

What you see on the display looks very promising for legacy lens collectors! It gives strong indication that the sensor of the new Sony A7RII has no problem with magenta color shift at the borders anymore. It also looked like the borders were less blurred compared to the sample from the A7S.

Well, let’s hope his “Impressions” will be confirmed by future more advanced tests!
