Again competition news: Full Canon EOS R camera specs and images leaked!

The Canon EOS R with 24-105mm lens compared ot a classic DSLR with 24-105mm lens

These are the leaked pictures and specs of the new Canon EOS R camera and lenses. I am curious to hear if you think this is a more serious proposal than the Nikon Z or not. I am actually curious how it did come that both Canon and Nikon had the same idea to put nearly the same top screen on the camera :)

PRO points for the Canon compared to Sony:
– Dual Pixel AF
– EV-6 (wow!)
– fully articulated screen
– top LCD screen
– 28-70mm f/2.0 (wow!)
– 50mm f/1.2
– real weathersealing

CONS points for the Canon compared to Sony:
– no on sensor stabilization
– one card slot only
– likely no EYE-AF
– no joystick
– Canon sensors usually not as good as Sony sensors

This is unexpected: Panasonic will also launch a new Full Frame mirrorless system camera on September 25

Rendering of a GH5 camera with Full Frame sensor and FF sensor (just a rendering and not the real camera!!!)

Well dear SAR readers, in one single month three manufacturers will launch a completely new Full Frame mirrorless system camera: After the Nikon Z and the Canon R we will also get a new Panasonic FF mirrorless on September 25!

There are no specs yet but for sure Panasonic is a very challenging competitor in the video arena. Maybe that’s why Sony is waiting to launch the new Sony A7sIII? They are probably going to watch what’s coming from Canon and Panasonic before to launch their next Full Frame camera. Makes sense from a strategic point of view.

I really wonder how Panasonic can survive the battle between the two giants (Canon-Nikon) and the runner-up (Sony). I wonder if Olympus and Ricoh will make some sort of FF camera too…

Competition news: Canon EOS-R FF mirrorless to be announced on September 5. Has 50mm f/1.2, 28-70mm f/2.0 lenses!

Mirrorlessrumors.com reports all details about the new Canon Full Frame mirrorless that will be announced on September 5. And from what you will read now it appears that Canon might be a step ahead of the Nikon Z lens lineup with fast zooms and prime lenses! Here is the gear list that Canon will announce on September 5 (via Nokishita):

EOS R body
EOS R 24105 kit
RF 35 mm F 1.8 M IS
RF 50 mm F 1.2 L USM
RF 28 – 70 mm F 2 L USM
RF 24 – 105 mm F4 L USM
M adapter R

Here are some possible specs of the entry-level FF mirrorless shared by Canonwatch:

  • 28MP full frame sensor
  • Dual Pixel Auto Focus
  • IBIS (In Body Image Stabilisation)
  • 10fps shooting
  • 4k@30fps
  • 1080p@60fps
  • Priced $1,900

I somehow feel like Canon could be an even more “dangerous” competitor than Nikon because of the “faster” lens lineup and the sheer brutal force of their brand name!

Private note: Now that I said this lens lineup from Canon is cool tell me once more I am a Sony fanboy you Nikon guys:)

Updated info on the new Zeiss Camera

As you know Zeiss removed the teasers for their camera launch. Some people were worried this means Zeiss will not announce this camera. But a reliable source told me this:

Some press in China have already received an official notification from Zeiss about the new product, so  I expect it to come very soon.

(SR1) UPDATED: Sony A7sIII to be announced at IBC 2018 on September 14 ??? Unlikely…

A source just sent me this:

a7siii to be announced at IBC 2018 on Sept. 14

UPDATE: I had to downgrade the rumor after getting new information: A highly trusted source and another new source told me Sony will definitely announce a new PRO camcorder on September 14. But although they know the A7sIII is ready to go they cannot confirm yet it will be announced on September 14. For both sources it seems unlikely the A7sIII is coming :(

Sorry for the disappointment folks, but the trusted source stressed to say the A7sIII is definitely ready to be announced. And Sony has two more press events scheduled after the 14 September (one for Photokina and one for Photolus). Still, we cannot exclude the A7sIII might be announced on Sept 14. So let’s hope the trusted source didn’t know about it :)

What about the possible Sony A7sIII specs?

Very likely:
– New 5.6 million dot EVF
– 4k60p
– 10 bit 4:2:2 external (not internal!)
– new color science
– dual SD card slot, Z-battery, chunkier grip

Unconfirmed:
– New 24 Megapixel Quad pixel sensor

One more thing:
Back in March a new source sent me a rumor I didn’t post because it did sound to good to be true. But fact is that the a part of the rumor he sent me related to the RX100M6 rumor proved to be correct. I still think this rumor isn’t correct and he may only had a lucky guess. But anyway, I figured I should now post it with the warning to take this with a grain of salt ok?

A6800 aps c camera and rx100 mark 6.
rx to be released first around may juin.

A7s iii coming later this year around october november with new G master prime lens. the camera will record:

5k 24 fps.
4k 60 fps.
1080p 180 fps.
10 bit 4:2:2 via hdmi out.
+ new log profile slog 4.

Sounds good so far. What do you think?

To sources: If you can confirm (or deny) this rumor please drop me a message using the anonymous contact form you see on the top right of this website. You can also contact me directly at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

Zeiss removed all camera teasers

Zeiss removed their two camera teased from their official Weixin account. I repeat that this is the OFFICIAL Zeiss account so it’s quite strange they are doing that.

I hope this camera doesn’t “disappear” like their 40mmf /2.0 Batis leaked we leaked nearly 2 months ago!

(SR5) First leaked images of the new DSC-HX95/DSC-HX99 compact cameras with massive 24-720mm zoom!

A trusted source just sent us this leaked images of the new DSC-HX95/DSC-HX99 compact cameras that Sony will announce on August 30 at 13:00 Berlin time.

Known specs:

  • 18,3 Megapixels
