(SR2) Rumor from a new source: Sony 20mm and 135mm FE to be soon?

[shoplink 48572]Zeiss135mm[/shoplink]

Image above shows the [shoplink 48572]A-mount Zeiss 135mm f/1.8 lens[/shoplink]

This is a rumor from a new source. He said that Sony will announce those two new lenses:

20mm f/2.8 FE (Ideal for documentary, landscape and architecture photography
135mm f/2.0 FE

He added that they should be announced in November. So if (big if) that source is right I don’t know if these lenses will be announced next week or in another separate event in November.

Reminder: Rumors from new sources have to be taken with a big dose of caution. The reason I am posting this on SAR is that sometimes these rumors turn out to be true just like it happened with the recent A6500 rumor.

New Zeiss Batis: Still no 100% confirmation about the announcement…

ZeissBatis

Two months ago a Zeiss source told me the next Zeiss E-mount lens could be a Batis tele lens. There is a fair chance the lens might be announced at the PDN show next week. But I wanted to give you a short update: Other sources still haven’t gotten any confirmation yet that the Batis will be announced next week. Just to say that I am still not 100% sure it’s coming yet. It may be (but that’s just speculation) that the announcement has been delayed…

Reminder: Next week Sony will announce “something E-mount”.

(SR5) UPDATED: Lo And Behold SAR folks! Sony has one more E-mount product announcement within the next 2-3 weeks!

UPDATE: The announcement time got corrected from “Next week” to “within the next 2-3 weeks.

It ain’t over yet! You hear it here on SAR first: Sony has one more major product announcement scheduled within the next 2-3 weeks! Be sure to subscribe our RSS feed, Facebook page and Twitter stream to not miss any news about that new Sony announcement!

The sources who confirmed this didn’t share any product details info yet. Only thing they told me is that this is something “Big” and “E-mount”. But of course the defintion of what’s “Big” is pretty subjective so therefore do not read too much into it.

So far I got no confirmation that this is about a new A7 camera or about a new High End E-mount A9 camera (expected market release in 2017). Sony is also rumored to announce new FE lenses soon.
Or maybe there is something completely new and unexpected? Do you have some special…”dream”? :)

Note: “Lo and Behold” is also a subliminal invitation for SAR folks to watch the Werner Herzog’s latest movie.

Stay tuned for new Sony A9 rumors!

It has been a nice time on SAR lately and we published many correct rumors and leaks. What you saw first on SAR where the leaked  A6500 and RX100m5 images, the first A6500 info, the first Loxia specs, the first leaked image of the 18-110mm lens, the first Zeiss Milvus images (with Ale from MR), the first Profoto-Sony rumor, the first leaked images of the Tamron 150-600mm A-mount lens, the first rumor of a redesigned menu, the A99II development info and the full A99II specs.

To get all that info requires a lot of work and a lot of trust between the sources and me. And So let me say thank you to all of them!

Sony A9:
The big rumor I am working now is on the A9. The A9 name itself is just a tentative name. It could also get another name when announced. But the point here is that the camera is placed above the A7 lineup. SAR was the first to report about that camera back in April before the Kumamoto earthquake. From what I heard the camera will now be announced in early 2017 instead of late 2016 due the sensor production shortage. I also want to stress that trusted sources also shared few early info:

  • Placed above the A7 series
  • dual XQD card slot,
  • unlimited RAW burst (camera wont pause for buffering)
  • Bigger body than the A7 series

I am now working to get some more of info. While you are waiting for me to post that info feel free to join the the A9 Facebook group to be able to chat in detail on the future A9 info. Also don’t forget to subscribe our RSS feed, Facebook page and Twitter stream.

A bit of clarity on rumors work:

1) Low ranked rumors: Please don’t take me accountable on those. Low ranked rumors are from completely unknown sources. But like I told you a couple of times I prefer to post some of those low ranked rumors and be wrong on them…than not post them at all and miss some of the correct ones! Just recently I published such a rumor (the A6500 rumor here) and it turned out to be spot on. Keep in mind that most of the good sources are completely anonymous. That’s also a reason why I will keep posting low ranked rumors. Trusted sources reading this can help me out by using a Pseudonym so that I can rank their rumor higher the next time :)

2) High Ranked rumors: Take them a bit more “seriously” but still be aware that even good and trusted sources sometimes can be wrong on rumors. This has many reasons: They misinterpret the info they get, or they get wrong info, or Sony simply changes the plan. An example of Sony plan change is the A6300 launch which was supposed to happen in June 2015 (confirmed by the Sony Wikileaks documents) and got postponed til February 2016. Same story for the A99II launch which I reported wrongly two times.

A bit of clarity on personal stuff:

I do work alone on SAR. This means quality of rumors and news goes up and down depending on the time I can spend on SAR, depending on vacation, depending on my work trip (I do work as a photographer). So don’t be too mad with me if I make more grammatical errors than usual, if I miss to report a news or rumor in time and so on.

How to help me (and a few rules):

1) Please don’t troll here and on other sites. You could take aways some of the workload and stress by simply pay attention of how you write comments on SAR. Don’t get personal, don’t insult, don’t attack other sites even if they keep attacking me and SAR. Let’s be decent and respectful. This is a rumor site and by that I mean we are here for fun and entertainment. There shouldn’t be a reason to get angry to each other.

2) Correct me on mistakes: If I do mistakes please kindly contact me at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. And please when criticizing me start with the assumption that if I do mistakes I am not doing them intentionally or with some hidden “dark” reason. I do write 1150 articles per year on average. Things like wrong linking, wrong crediting (or missing crediting), incorrect grammatic can happen!

3) Retweet and share: We almost get no retweets or sharing from companies and other websites. This has obvisous reason. No blogger is going ot jeopardize the collaboration with camera manufacturers by linking to us :) If you find a news on SAR worth to be read by others share it throught your network. Thanks!

4) Don’t blatantly copy my posts without credit. Don’t worry mistakes can happen and I am not going mad if you copy my news and forget to link back. But there are a couple of sites who blatantly keep copying my work CONSTANTLY. I really would appreciate those sites to link back to SAR if they keep to “use my site” . Just to award me a bit for the work I do. Thanks!

Ok now time for me to stop talking and get back to work. Have a nice day you all!

Andrea

P:s.: Short message to Sony:
Thanks to all Sony engeneers and managers for your hard work on all those exciting new products! I do hope that you will find my work on SAR useful too :)

Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki confirms in video interview they have a Sony FE lens roadmap

Lensvid interviewed Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki. At minute 3.45 you can hear him confirm that they “have a plan to do FE lenses”.

Few more tidbits:

  • They will consider making APS-C E-mount kit zoom
  • They are considering making macro E-mount lenses too

As a side note watch the full video! He is funny and very honest when he takes about why he is keeping the DP Camera business. I have my highest respect for Mr. Kazuto Yamaki!

Handevision is developing a full frame E-mount cine lens line

handevision

Newsshooter got word from Handevsision that they will soon launch a new E-mount cine lens line:

“The planned lenses will come in 24, 35, 50, 75 and 90mm and all have a constant T2.5 maximum aperture. Handevision hope to sell the lens at around the $2000 US price point. Release date isn’t certain but they are aiming for spring next year (2017).”

So now we have upcoming new E-mount Cine lenses from Sigma, Tokina, Samyang, Handevision…isn’t this getting a bit crowded?
