Last week I told you Zeiss would launch a new FE lens by end of this week. And here it is the official Zeiss teaser! On Twitter and Facebook they write:

Hey friends of the @Sony α7! At #photokina you’ll have the chance to test a new lens. Any guesses? #ZEISSphk16

Guesses? Well this should be a new Loxia tele lens ;)

One of our sources confirmed Zeiss will launch new Sony FE lens(es) next week! He didnt’ share the specs yet and we don’t know if it’s a Batis or Loxia or both they will announce!

But we know one of the lenses Zeiss wanted to launch this year is a Loxia tele lens. If you remember it back in May Zeiss announced a new Loxia transport case where four Loxia lenses can fit inside. SAR readers Christian Schätzle got the chance to “test” the new Loxia bag and actually discovered a small interesting detail. The fourth “free spot” is actually around 1cm deeper than the 21mm Loxia spot (which is the longest lens of the three). This is another small indirect confirm that the next lens will be a tele lens (85mm likely) with 8cm lens length. Here is the video he shared today:

Tomorrow (on Friday 9th September at 9.00am CET) Sony will announce the new Sony 18-110mm f/4.0 G PZ APS-C E-mount lens. You can follow the video live stream here on SAR! A source also told me the new Sony PZ lens will be compatible with the Sony teleconverters.

There is also a blurred out image of the new lens. For perspective and scale, in the background to the left and center it appears to be the Trioplan 50 and Trioplan 100. So you can see that the new lens has a profile similar to the T50.

Meyer-Optik will announce a new lens on Friday at 13:30 CET (07:30 ET). The E-mount lens will be a modern version of one of their historic classic lenses. And above you can see a blurred image showing the lens. I have no specs yet but it must be based on one of those classic lens designs:

A trusted source just sent me the image of the new Sony 18-110mm f/4.0 G PZ APS-C E-mount lens! The lens will be announced on Friday 9th September at 9.00am CET and you can follow the video live stream here on SAR.

The new Sony G PZ lens is made for the FS camcorder series and is way more useful on those cameras than the current [shoplink 51182 ebay]Sony FE PZ 28-135mm[/shoplink]. I have no price info yet.

Mirrorlessrumors leaked the images of three new Milvus lenses (15mm f/2.8, 18mm f/2.8, 135mm f/2.0.). These are Canon or Nikon mount lenses that will work fine on your Sony A7 too (with adapter). The Nikon version of the lens woudl probably be your best choice as it has a nice aperture ring!

Note: Ming Thein and 3Dkraft well explained why these lenses work best on a Sony camera :)
