First images from the new Sony i1 smartphone Cyberhsot. Uses same RX100MII Exmor R sensor tech!

Xperiablog (found via Thenewcamera) posted what they claim to be a real image of the new Sony i1 smartphone. The i1 will be the first smartphone that can shoot pictures as good as Sony Cybershot compact cameras. Sadly Xperiablog doens’t have an image of the back of the camera to see the lens.

But I have a good news too:
One of my sources sent me the specs of the camera (Thanks a lot!). He says the i1 phone (Honami) will have a selectable ISO range from 50-12,800 and it uses Super Steady Shot image stabilisation (2-3 stops). It also has an f/2.0 28mm equivalent lens. The sensor is a 20MP 2/3″ BSI Exmor R one using the same process as as the RX100mkII for superior low light performance. The phone will also have manual controls for shutter speed and some level of manual aperture control and it will have an all new Cyber-shot app which integrates with PlayMemories Online.

May the source can tell me when Sony will announce the i1? Thanks :)

P.S.: The sensor size is the same used by the Fuji X20. A comparison with the RX100-NIkon1 sensor size can be seen here at Cameraimagesensor.

A prove that shows you how the A77 and A65 successor were planned to be released in Summer.

As I told you many times before Sony originally planed to release new APS-C SLT cameras in Summer. The image on top has been sent by a source to prove this. But as I told you two months ago the new Sony CEO canceled that release (or at least that is the info I got). Nevertheless you will have to wait only 6-8 months more to see the new APS-C A-mount cameras. Mirrorless, new EVF, new phase detection on sensor and super fast AF. That’s what you have to expect to see!

(SR5) Two Hasselblad compacts and a new A-mount DSLR coming this year.

Back at Photokina in September Hasselblad also showed this design based on a Sony A-mount camera. And Hasselblad posted two job offers (one and two) that discloses the timing for the camera release:

“You will be responsible for the worldwide sales of consumer-oriented line of Hasselblad products starting with a mirrorless Lunar and followed already this year with 2 compact cameras and a DSLR.”

and…

“We have set extremely high targets for 2013 with planned releases of at 3 new cameras and supporting camera accessories, and we need more talent to help us on this exciting journey.”

I hope the new A-mount camera will be more than just a luxurious version of the A99 or A77! P.S.: I guess Hasselblad will do an SLT and not a DSLR.

Note: The recent Hasselblad Lunar sales disappeared from the Amazon US site. And since then I haven’t found any Lunar for sale. Let me know if you find them! The only Lunar related product I found for sale is the [shoplink 19267 ebay]German prospekt[/shoplink] :)

These are the leaked images of the new RX1R and RX100MII. Both cameras will be announced tomorrow (June 27). Be sure to be online on SAR at 6-7am London time to follow live the announcement!  Below you can find the RX100MII image (via Digicaminfo) and after that the specs and price in dollars:

.

Twice leaked the specs and pricing:

San Diego – Sony introduced Thursday a pair of advanced RX-series Cyber-shot point-and-shoot cameras targeting the professional/advanced amateur audiences.

Models DSC-RX1R/B ($2,799 suggested retail price) and DSC-RX100M2/B ($749 suggested retail) both feature advanced CMOS sensors, with the former featuring a 24.3-megapixel 35mm full-frame Exmor sensor and the latter offering a one-inch 20.2-megapixel Exmor R sensor. Both models also include Sony’s latest BIONZ image processors.
Sony said both cameras are additions to the RX line and will not be replacing the current RX1 or RX100 models. The RX1R will be slotted in higher than the previous RX1, and removes the optical low pass filter of the RX1 for improved resolution and image quality. The filter will continue to be included in the RX1 to reduce artifacts such as moiré.
The RX1R is also said to produce superior contrast levels to the RX1.
It includes a fixed focal length 37mm lens at F2-22 Carl Zeiss lens.
The RX100 features a 28-100mm focal range (35mm equivalent) F1.8 lense.
Both models will also support FullHD 1080/60p and 1080/24p video resolution in AVCHD compression format, and up to 1440-by-1080/30fps in MP4.
The RX1R supports an ISO range for still images from 100-25,600 (100-102,400 in EV step) while the RX100RM2 supports an ISO range from 160-25,600.
The RX100M2 uses a new sensor production technique to produce a Exmor R CMOS sensor as large as 1-inch. This is said to significantly improve the camera’s low-light picture image capability.
The RX100M2 also offers burst shooting speeds up to 10fps at 20.2-megapixel resolution.
The RX1R offers burst shooting speeds up to 5fps in speed priority mode and 2.5 fps (AF-S).
Both models include pop-up flashes and 3-inch (1.2 million dot) LCD monitors. The RX100RM2 adds an 84-degree-up, 43-degrees-down tilting screen.
The RX100M2, which has a compact body design, will also support Wi-Fi wireless connectivity and image transfer and will be the first NFC-enabled digital imaging device from Sony, allowing transferring images by typing the camera with another Wi-Fi-enable device like a smartphone or a tablet.

Stay tuned on 6-7am London time: RX1R, RX100MII and maybe something elses to be announced.

In less than 24hours we will know everything about the new RX1R, RX100MII and whatever else may be announced. I don’t know yet if Sony will also announce their first hybrid smartphone-Cybershot cameras. I certainly hope so! No A or E-mount news is expected for tomorrow but I would happy if Sony could surprise us here too! After all the new firmware update is coming soon so they may hint about it tomorrow (that’s just a hope…not a rumor).

The announcement is likely to be made at around 6-7am London time. As usual you are invited to be online at SonyAlphaRumors. I will give you live updates about all news, tests and every other interesting bits I can find on the web. And here comes a reminder of what’c coming tomorrow:

The Sony RX1R: Same camera (and same lens) as the current RX1 but it misses the Anti Aliasing filter.
The Sony RX100MKII: It has an “updated” 20 megapixel sensor with Exmor R technology. The same Zeiss lens as the RX100. But there are plenty of other changes: new tilt screen, longer battery life, ISO 100, Built-in Wifi, 24p recording and Hot Shoe.
Sony i1 (not sure it comes tomorrow): Android smartphone with Sony G lens and 1/2.3 inch sensor.

By the way, let us know…

Choose the lens you would consider to buy:
