(SR3) The Hasselbald SLT clone is not going to be made?

The Hasselblad Lunar is coming in April and it will cost you over $5.000 to get one. And as you may remember from photokina Hasselblad also showed this sketch of a Hasselblad SLT FF camera. According to a new source Hasselblad will not launch an SLT camera but focus fully on the NEX system instead. And unlike the Lunar Hasselblad also has the plan to work on some really unique products (cameras and lenses) that are not simply S
ony cameras with a lot of luxury around. The Lunar is just the start….

Just my two cents. If I would be in charge at Hasselblad I would push to make a digital and modular [shoplink 17505 ebay]500c styled camera (here on eBay)[/shoplink] with Sony medium format sensor. Capable of taking both A and E mount FF lenses and of course Hasselblad medium format lenses. Yeah I know, I should stop making such impossible dreams :)

(SR3) Rumors about a triple A-mount lens update.

After all these NEX and E-mount news here comes a new A-mount rumor :)

Dyxum forum member TrainerKen wrote: “A couple weeks ago the Sony’s regional rep put on an event where multiple units of RX1 and RX100’s were provided for people to try out… I was one of the participants… Anyway, that night I asked him about the rumor of the new Sony 70-200G, and he did say a new one is coming, along with a revamped CZ135 and CZ85. They will have SSM and weather sealing

I can confirm that a 70-200mm  G lens update is on schedule for this year (maybe coming along the A77 successor this summer). But I am not sure yet about the CZ135  and CZ85. I will ask my sources if they confirm or deny the update for the two Zeiss.

(SR4) NEX-7n launch postponed!

According to three trusted sources Sony decided to postpone the NEX-7n launch. The new launch date is not set yet but I have been told it’s not that far away. I don’t know the reason why they delayed it…but I hope to have some more details soon.

UPDATE: Of course Sony itself hasn’t announced a NEX-7n release date yet so this isn’t an “official” delay. It’s all based on rumors we get from our sources :)

Very important: Back in late 2012 Sony removed the SLT-FF high end model from the 2013 roadmap. And now they delayed the NEX-7n. Sounds like Sony is slowing down the roadmap to convoy resources on the FF-NEX development. But that’s just my easy and probably unjustified guess.

Cool EQUINOX E-mount Camera Concept!

All concept images via Yanko Design.

We had quite a long and complex discussion last week about how Sony should make hybrid mount camera. And Designers Dae Jin Ahn and Chun Hyun Park found a very creative solution. They designed a modular NEX camera that has as its hardcore a compact Sensor module. I found this to be an extremely elegant solution but I doubt Sony is going to develop a modular E-mount system- Would be nice, but not going to happen.

(SR3) Mitakon to launch a Metabones Speed Booster alternative in July.

Image on top: The Metabones Speed Booster.

Metabones created an amazing adapter with the Speed Booster. And it’s also a very pricey tool. You pay $399 for a manual adapter and up to $599 for an electronic adapter. So if you are praying for for a cheaper alternative than your prayers will be listened by the Chinese company Mitakon. I have been informed that these guys are going to launch a much more affordable “speed booster” alike adapter in July. Price will be at least the half of the Metabones. Of course we have to see 1) if the quality of those adapters will be as good as the Metabones 2) and how the heck Mitakon will avoid to get into a patent dispute with Metabones.
