Wild rumors roundup: A9s, A7sIIIa, 36MP APS-C and 200mm GM.

About those rumors: I have no idea who sent them and 90% of the times they turn out to be wrong. But, it happened in the past that a couple of those were right. So I will post them today, and we all together can eventually keep track of this. If one of the sources turns out to be right than we will know we can trust it a bit more!

WILD RUMOR: New Sigma 70-200mm FE coming (and it weights 1050g)

Image on top shows the front of the current Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 Canon EF lens

Back in February Sigma CEO hinted that a 70-200mm f/2.8 FE lens would come. But we haven’t heard anything about this until now. One source now appears to have gotten some info about the lens. All he sent me was the weight info:

The new sigma S 70-200 weights only 1050g!!

No idea when this will be announced….but I guess that if his info is correct the lens should be announced within the end of the year.

RUMOR: Sony A7IV has A7SIII body, same A7sIII heatsink and takes SD and CFexpress A cards

I have been told the A7IV has basically the same A7SIII body. It means it also has the same heatsink and a HDMI type A port and can take both UHS-II SD-cards and CF Xpress A cards

Sony A7IV rumored specs:

  • launch in October (if chip supply permits this)
  • Newly developed 33MP sensor
  • 4k30 video is oversampled from 7K
  • 5.5 stops of IBIS (+ AS)
  • Same A7sIII body design
  • Full size HDMi
  • UHS-II SD-cards and CF Xpress cards
