Crazy wild rumor about a new 400-800mm f/8.0 GM lens

Guys, it’s vacation time and I need a break. So I figured I’d take the chance to post this crazy rumor I received from an anonymous source. I give it 0.000001% that it’s true. And I wonder why such a lens makes any sense at all! The “source” wrote:

The zoom lens is a FE 400-800 with large aperture values such as F8, I have seen it being used in the wild. Best Wishes.

For sure this would be a novice as nobody ever did something like this. But f/8.0 constant aperture? Would that be even interesting for someone?

The first Sony A7 camera was announced in October 2013. In 11 years, the body has grown in size and compared with the new Sony a1II it is now:

• 2,5mm taller
• 9,2mm wider
• 24,7mm thicker (mainly due the larger grip)
• The A7 weight was 474g while the Sony a1II weight is now 658g

Zeiss Loxia 21mm officially marked as discontinued in Japan

As reported by Asobinet plenty of Japanese stores marked the Zeiss Loxia 21mm lens as discontinued. The lens is still in Stock at BHphoto:

Back in 2018 Zeiss announced their last Batis/Loxia FE lenses. I hope the Zeiss management will think about updating and making new Batis/Loxia lenses in the near future!

Sony A1II dynamic range tests: Improves slightly over the A1

Bill Claff from PhotonsToPhotos measured the dynamic range of the new Sony A1II. Ther are a few minor differences:

• Dynamic range is improved across the board by around 0,2-0,3 stops
• High Conversion Gain moved from ISO 500 to ISO 640
