This is a very solid rumor confirmed via two trusted sources. When I am back from the Louvre tour (15:00 London time) I will post this. Stay tuned!

Personal note: Broke my Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 FE after a 50 cm fall. Damn it :(

Christophe Anagnostopoulos posted the first review of the new Tokina 85mm f/1.8 FE lens:

A great option in the medium telephoto range, an ideal prime lens for ambient light images and videos, like portraits, landscapes and street shots, with excellent optical quality, smooth bokeh, fast and accurate autofocus, packed in a solid build and premium looking body, and all that, in a very competitive and affordable price which is going to establish it in the top ranks of the demanding mirrorless market.

Here is also a quick autofocus test video:

RUMOR: No new E-mount camera announcement in February and A7sIII announcement ahead of the IBC show in August/September?

Share

Now I hope this rumor is wrong :(

I got this from a single trusted source, whom rarely was wrong in the past. But I hope this is one of those rare occasions he might got the wrong info. He told me this:

1) No new E-mount camera will be announced in February ahead of the Cp+ show
2) Sony A7sIII will be announced ahead of the IBC show in August/September.

No info on the A7IV launch timing but I guess the chances stay high we will see it at Photokina. But lets’ hope I am wrong folks and we will get a new E-mount camera at CP+ already…

This is what to expect at the CP+ show (end of February): For sure we are soon getting a new compact camera model (RX or action camera). Also new E-mount lenses are likely to be announced.

RUMOR: Sony Alpha launch roadmap will be affected by the Coronavirus epidemic

Share

I just got this:

I heard extremely concerning news regarding the Coronavirus and the impact it will have on Sony’s production line and roadmap. We can expect product launched to be very delayed along with much lower capacity in production volumes for many of their current imaging products.

Thanks to the source for the info. And yes, please let me know more about Sony’s roadmap….for example about new FE lenses and A7IV :)

Sigma 24-70mm FE will ship from February 20 at BHphoto

Share

A new Stock of lenses will finally ship out on February 20 according to BHphoto. And exactly one week after Sigma might announce the new 70-200mm f/2.8 FE :)

Photographyblog just posted the Sigma lens review and concluded:

In terms of its optical performance, it’s tack-sharp in the centre throughout all of the zoom range, with sharpness only falling off a little at f/2.8 at the very edges of the frame. It also produces some very nice bokeh effects thanks to the 11-blade iris diaphragm.

There’s some vignetting at wide-open apertures, barrel distortion at 24mm and slight pincushioning at 70mm, but all of this can be corrected either in-camera or during post-processing.

Auto-focusing proved to be very quick on the Sony Alpha A7 III that we tested the lens with, and manual focus over-ride at any time is a great feature.

Overall, the new Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art is a very well-built, very fast standard zoom lens that delivers superb image quality at a frankly unbelievable price, and is therefore a more than worth winner of our highest award.
