Sony confirmed it will have a live press conference at 9.30am CET on Friday 14. Trusted sources told us Sony will announce a new PRO camcorder. They have no info yet about a possible E-mount announcement. We still don’t know if the Sony A7sIII will be announced on September 14 or if Sony will wait out the Canon-Nikon-Panasonic FF camera launch storm first.
The only reliable info I got about the Sony A7sIII so far is this:
Source 1 (with a track of sharing 5 correct rumors out of 6)
4K HDR 60P
The sensor is Exmor RS
The number of pixels is unknown.
Sony is nervous about information leakage, it is difficult to obtain detailed specifications.
But according to sources, the A7S III is amazing, it is really amazing.
Source 2 (with a track of sharing 4 correct rumors out of 4)
The sensor of a7sIII would be new stacked CMOS sensor with integral memory
which means a7sIII would have 4KHDR/60P.
The sensor is technically superior to a9/fs sensor.
A SAR reader asked IRIX if they will release native e-mount lenses anytime soon, they replied:
“Dear XXX,
Thank you for contacting us. We plan to release lenses equipped with Sony E’s native mount in the near future.
However, wo do not know when the first lens with E-mount will be ready for sale.”
Good to hear that!

Just a fictive rendering of a new High End APS-C camera
One of the few testers of the new APS-C High End E-mount camera told me this:
this is a whole new camera
Of course he cannot share more details but this sounds like we will get a completely new body design too.
–
Rumor summary
– High End APS-C E-mount camera to be announced at or shortly AFTER Photokina
– New Zeiss fixed lens Full Frame camera with autofocus prime lens to be announced on September 27
– The A7sIII is 90% likely to be announced within 1-2 months. But I can see this announcement happening in October at Photo Plus too.
The lens rumors:
– Sony 135mm f/1.8 GM probably to be announced at or shortly AFTERPhotokina
– Sony 24m f/1.4 GM highly likely to be announced at or shortly AFTERPhotokina
– Maybe new Voigtlander FE lenses coming
– Probably new 50mm f/1.4 APS-C E-mount from Sigma
– Highly Likely a new 70-200mm f/2.8 FF E-mount lens from Sigma.
– New Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2.0
This is the bad news: I got informed that Sony has NO(!) scheduled press conference at this years Photokina. I don’t know if there will be a last minute change on this. But Sony has not occupied any press conference “slot” available at Photokina. It might be that Sony decided that with all these Nikon-Canon-Panasonic FF mirrorless announcement it’s better to announce their new gear AFTER Photokina.
Now the hope: Two years ago Sony did announce the Sony A6500 just ten days AFTER Photokina. And maybe that’s what Sony aims for: Give all the buzz to Nikon,Canon and Panasonic at Photokina and announce the new High End APS-C camera right after to get the full spotlight?
One more thing: Still the new 24mm GM 135mm GM might be announced at photokina without an official press conference…
