Output of image sensors is expected to reach 100,000 a month at the end of March 2018, with the volume rising another 10-20% by 2020.
Sony holds the leading global market share of nearly 50% in value terms for image sensors, Techno Systems Research says. But competition from No. 2 Samsung Electronics and others is growing.
System camera shipments are going up compared to 2016. And what’s even better news is that while DSLR shipments are dropping (-11%) the mirrorless system shipments went up compared to 2016.

I give narration during the entire video explaining the settings and methodology for each shot. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/v-OQpJMNs34. The video was shot in 4K on the Sony a7SII“
The next FE lenses Sony will announce will be a 135mm (probably f/1.8), a new 400mm (probably f/2.8) and there is also a third lens coming by end 2017.
But if Sony needs advice on what they should put ont heir roadmap please listen to me and make a FE version of the just announced new Nikon 28mm f/1.4. I do prefer that focal length over the 35mm lens.
Richard from Photogearnews tested the two new Sony FE wide angle lenses. The one thing that really makes me curious about these lenses is the newly tuned focus by wire. If it’s really as Richard is saying than these might be the first lenses I will be happy to use when using manual focus (Yes, I am one of those old fashion people still using manual focus).
While the use of apodization elements or filters in lenses is no longer a unique proposition, the introduction of this lens for full-frame Sony mirrorless cameras is bound to be treated with some excitement. Even though the lens is somewhat limited by the T5.6 maximum aperture, the inclusion of optical stabilization goes some way toward offsetting that in daylight. Although we can’t comment on the quality of the lens’s most intriguing quality (the blurring in the out of focus planes), there’s no denying that the Sony FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS has interesting specs and excellent optical quality.
The European store Scandinavianphoto did list the new Voigtländer 65mm f/2,0 Macro FE lens. This is a sign the lens will be available for preorder very soon (Thanks Frode for spotting this).
Image samples shot on this lens can be seen at DSLRmagazine.
