Mariusz:I thought that could be interesting for you and your readers, as I was one of the people that was looking for this kind of video but couldn’t find it, so I decided to record it myself. It’s a vlog where I’m testing the 28mm f2 lens from Sony for a purpose of vlogging. Also it shows the slow motion and low light capabilities in real life of the Sony a7rii.

Tony and Chelsea followers voted the best gear of 2016. At minute 7 there is a special mention for the “best unshipped lens”. And the winner is the 70-200mm Sony GM. Tony says he tested it and says it’s “stellar” but he doesn’t get it why the lens is still not shipping yet.

Juan:Take Kayo interviewed me about my Beers And Cameras meet-ups. I talk about how I use my Sony, like my M-Mount glass and other things. Think your audience may find it entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM1V020t6l0

Scott:A personal project shot on a mixed bag of Sony cameras. I normally work on weddings, making films and taking photos so it was good to leave the work behind and try something different. This film was shot on the A7s, A7ll, A7r, RX100mk4, RX10mk2 and the Phantom3 Pro. The lenses used were the FE90mm f2.8, Batis 85 f1.8, FE 35 f1.4 and 24-70 f4.

Sony’s New CMOS Sensor Incorporates Polarizer

Share

bildschirmfoto-2016-12-15-um-21-07-16

Sony announced a new backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor at IEDM 2016 which is equipped with integrated polarizers. Nikkei reports:

A polarizer is a kind of filter that transmits only light in a specific polarization state and reflects light in the other states. A prototype of the new sensor is equipped with four kinds of polarizers that transmit linearly-polarized lights (linearly-polarized waves) with different polarization directions (polarization angles: 0, 45, 90 and 135°).
In the lecture, the group emphasized that the transmittance and extinction ratio of the prototype are satisfactory. It disclosed data to prove that it has achieved a higher extinction ratio than that of a conventional polarization camera in the wavelength range of 400-700nm. Also, the sensitivity and extinction ratio of the new sensor are less dependent on the incident angle.

Thanks Barry!
