ePhotozine tested the new Sony 50mm f/2.8 macro lens and writes:

“There is no doubt that handling is excellent. Focus locks on reliably, the image in the viewfinder or on the monitor is clear and it is a pleasure to enjoy again the simplicity of just having that one standard lens to shoot with.
Sharpness at the centre is simply excellent at all apertures.
Despite only having 7 diaphragm blades, the bokeh is still very pleasing.
The 50mm lens is a universally useful optic and the ability to continue to focus right down to life size is very appealing indeed. The Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 macro lens is an excellent performer and a pleasure to use, at a realistic price.”

The new Sony FE 50mm macro lens is in Stock and shipping for the first time:
in USA at BHphoto, Adorama and Amazon.
in Europ at Fotomundus, Amazon.de, Amazon UK.

Newsshooter got word from Handevsision that they will soon launch a new E-mount cine lens line:

“The planned lenses will come in 24, 35, 50, 75 and 90mm and all have a constant T2.5 maximum aperture. Handevision hope to sell the lens at around the $2000 US price point. Release date isn’t certain but they are aiming for spring next year (2017).”

So now we have upcoming new E-mount Cine lenses from Sigma, Tokina, Samyang, Handevision…isn’t this getting a bit crowded?

CameraBeta just published a strange leak of what they claim is the new Sony A7s mark III. They got that image which they say lists the specs of the new Sony A7sIII:

– 15.4MP BSI-CMOS with LSI
– Variable IR Filter can be used as variable electronic ND filter
– Native ISO: 100-102400
– Maximum ISO: 409600
– 3” 1.23million dot articulating LCD screen
– 4:2:2 8bit 4K recording support

I don’t know CameraBeta and therefore I have to be very skeptical on this one…

P.S.: Join the new Sony A7sIII facebook group to get updates on that future new camera.
