Yes, suddenly we have plenty of FE lenses to choose in the 50mm focal length range. We have the superb 55mm FE, the “cheap” 50mm f/1.8 FE, the new Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 and the new Samyang 50mm f/1.4. The latter just got reviewed by ePhotozine:
“Samyang’s lenses have always looked interesting. Now, with the arrival of AF, they move into new territory and this first offering is a beautiful lens that performs to a very high standard. The cost has been a fairly large and relatively heavy lens, but that may be a small price to pay for an optic that can deliver such beautiful results.”

Just recently Olympus published a surprising patent describing a set of new lenses designed for a Full Frame mirrorless system camera:
17mm f/1.4 (7 cm total lens lenght) 25mm f/1.4 (8 cm total lens lenght) 25mm f/1.4 (13 cm total lens lenght) 28mm f/1.4 (13 cm total lens lenght) 35mm f/1.4 (13 cm total lens lenght) 50mm f/1.4 (13 cm total lens lenght)
As you know Olympus has no such system yet. And in the light of the Sony-Olympus partnership it is not impossible to imagine Olympus to join the Sony E-mount system. It would certainly a very big news for the system if that would happen! There are three possibilities for Olympus:
They will launche their own FF system (which in my opinion makes little sense)
They could make Zuiko lenses (or sell the lens designs to Sony) for the E-mount system
They could join the E-mount system with their own branded cameras and lenses
I hope point 3 comes true, I think Olympus would greatly improve the attractively of the E-mount system!

Ryan: “Not a rumor! I thought I’d pass on a new 2 minute short I filmed along Ireland’s largest cliff face, populated by a great many sheep. It’s got a mix of ground footage filmed with a Sony A7Rii and Nikon lenses, as well as a DJI Phantom 3 Pro. Did I mention the cute sheep?
Here’s the link and synopsis, cheers!: http://vimeo.com/173424368
County Donegal in Ireland is home to Slieve League, the tallest cliffs in the country – almost three times the size of the Cliffs of Moher, made famous in the Harry Potter films.
Filmed in 4K with a mix of aerial and ground photography, ‘Slieve League, Ireland’ captures the breathtaking sight of the cliffs – just be prepared to share the view with the myriad sheep that call Slieve League their home.“

With some of the best features of the SLT Alpha 77 II and a competitive price, the Sony SLT Alpha 68 looks promising on paper. However, while the sensor is a good performer on the whole, being particularly suited to landscape work or any work at or close to base ISO, it’s less impressive at higher sensitivities where rivals have an advantage. That’s somewhat at odds with the pro-level features, and where the performance of the SLT Alpha 77 II sensor is a little stronger. While Sony’s translucent mirror technology is a limiting factor in that respect, the benefits of adopting a fixed mirror more than likely outweigh the slight disadvantages in the SLT Alpha 68, which still puts in a good performance at this price level.
The Sony A68 was originally scheduled to ship in USA in May. But due the Kumamoto Sony sensor facility damage the camera will now ship on August 4 according to BHphoto.
A very good source shared an info he got from a Zeiss manager. He said “Zeiss’s target is to have 5 Loxia and 5 Batis by end 2016.”
I do hope Zeiss will also increase the production to make them available as soon as it gets!
