Back in November I wrote that it would take a lot of time (probably months) before the Loxia 50mm lens would be back in Stock in US. Zeiss officially quickly answered to say this wasn’t true. Anyway, Many months passed and for now no Big US store has them in Stock (Check here at BHphoto for example). Since yesterday only 2 Loxia 50mm are in Stock via FocusCamera on [shoplink 32947 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] and Amazon (Click here). That’s all. Grab them now if you were waiting for it.

Sony A7II striptease at Lensrentals: It’s more complex but also more robust!

Roger Cicala from Lensrentals disassembled the new Sony A7II and this are his findings:

It’s not surprising that the inside of the A7II is more complex than the previous A7 cameras. The in-body image stabilization takes up space and adds circuitry. The camera does largely retain its modular construction, but clearly is more complex to assemble and disassemble.
The A7II is clearly more robust than its predecessors, too. The lens mount seems designed to eliminate any wobbling or looseness that was noticed in previous models and the chassis seems stronger.
We don’t see any real increase in weather sealing, except around the battery door, and even that is incomplete. However, it is certainly possible that Sony has such tight plastic-on-plastic seals that they don’t think rubber gaskets are necessary. Like I said at the beginning, though, I’m pretty cynical about manufacturer’s weather sealing claims.

[shoplink 8454 ebay][/shoplink]

Got some new specs for the A7000 from an anonymous source. So take it with a grain of salt for now:

New sensor (but still 24MP)
3 axis built-in stabilisation which works with any lens you attach
touch-screen
2.3M dot OLED viewfinder
8% thinner (118 x 67 x 42 mm)
dual-axis leveling gauge
Battery Life (CIPA): 460 (built-in stabilisation off)

True specs or not let’s hope the A7000 is coming soon!

The second part of the big FS7 review really proves how Sony is capable of learning and listening to create a superb camcorder. It’s an almost perfect camera as stated by the TCSTV team.

I do hope Sony will put the same kind of effort when developing cameras. So please Sony, make us a nice Sony A9 that really suits for pro photography! :)

CP+ camera rumors so far (A7000, A7rII, A3xxx…. and A99II).

Share

Note: Since one year Sony changed the policy on camera announcements. They do not unveil the release date to anyone and only the Japanese headquarters know when a certain product gets announced. I guess all the recent leak and hacking history made them change the procedure on how they announce their products (I mean all their products not only cameras).

What to expect now on CP+:

1) My trusted sources got reliable info about the new A7000 (High End APS-C) the new High megapixel FF E-mount cameras. I also got info from anonymous sources about an entry level APS-C (A3xxx) and a cheap Full Frame E-mount camera (A5?). Months ago I even got info via Tamron sources about a new A-mount Full Frame camera with close to 50MP.

2) There is yet no 100% reliable info on which camera could be announced at CP+. Even my few Japanese sources told me only Japanese Top managers know that. But I am sure that even if Sony surprisingly decided to not announce any new camera at CP+ …we only have to wait 3-5 weeks more to see them released. Juts like the A7II has been announced AFTER Photokina.

My personal bet is the High End Megapixel Sony and maybe also the A7000 will be announced very soon…and I am doing anything to get reliable info about that as soon as I can. Any help is appreciated and you can use that anonymous contact form to send me your “rumors”…Thanks ;)
