(SR4) Small but important Sony A77 Europe/US difference in video recording?

Share

Two trusted sources noticed that on “paper” there is a small difference between the A77 US and European versions. Apparently the A77 can record FullHD videos at 1080p60 and 1080p24. The European version can record in 1080p50 and 1080p25 but not 1080p24!
I hope this is a mistake only, it really doesn’t make sense to not offer the 24p version in Europe!

UPDATE: I just got this from a third trusted source: “US version is 24,30,60p, European 25 and 50p. There is no difference between 24 and 25p visually. You can play 25p at a speed of 24p and vice versa. Problem is sound, but video editors have no problem in converting the sound speed digitally.

Some other bits of info: I really got tons of rumors from testers that said the AF speed is amazing and very accurate. This is just a subjective “judgment” but I never so many sources be happy with a pre-production camera!

Johnnie Behiri is a freelance cameraman and editor working mostly for the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel. He tested the Sony HX9v for Cinema5d (Click here). You may ask why the hell he tested a compact camera for video? Click the play button and you will see it. It may not be casual that this is the best sold Sony camera on Amazon US (Click here to see the ranking).

And those are the HX9v price check links at [shopcountry 7597].

(SR5) First rendering of the upcoming LA-EA2 adapter with built-in translucent mirror.

Share

On top you can see the very first (real!) design of the new LA-EA2 adapter with built-in translucent mirror! As you see the adapter is quite BIG. It allows the use of the phase detecion autofocus with 15 AF points! As I already told you weeks ago the adapter will cost around $400. My guess is that the adapter is partiularly welcome by filmmakers that want to use the Alpha mount lenses on the [shoplink 6170]NEX-FS100[/shoplink] and other future E-mount camcorders.

The current LA-EA1 adapter is much cheaper (around $150) but autofocus is slow. Check the price and specs of the LA-EA1 at [shopcountry 8114].

(SR5) HOT!!!! First A77 commercial on youtube!!!!!!!!!

Share

Noooo! Incredible! Here it is the very first A77 commercial! That looks sexy! The lens on the video should be the [shoplink 8105 ebay]Zeiss 135mm (Click here to see that lens)[/shoplink]. But that lens isn’t dust proof :(
Before it gets removed download it and upload it to your own youtube channel. That will allow us to have enough backups :)

Which lens are you going to buy?
